5k Westfields ?

Is a 5k Westfield (there are a few of them about, generally base 1.8 models) worth buying as a first track day car ?

Or do I wait 1 year until I can afford a better/faster 8-10k car, or a couple of years for a 14k+ car .... ?

Is it worth buying a base 1.8 model (120bhp or there-ish) and upgrading the performance over time with mods, or is that throwing money away ?
