Dax Rush V8 Questions

Ok, so I’ve done the shows, read the books bought the t-shirt and will be taking the plunge in about 8 months (child number 2 is imminent, and the missus has laid down the law that no kit building until next year ). The plan is to build a V8 Dax Rush jointly with a friend. We have a reasonable budget (12k to 15K) and are looking to do a pretty thorough job. At the moment we are doing the research and investigation (which is allowed under the Family May Day Agreement! ) and really want to know what are the best bits to get from Dax and what is best sourced else where , and what are the pit falls to look out for.

And can anyone explain why a 4cyl exhaust system is less than 500 quid while the v8, which in theory is only double the 4 cyl is over £1600

Any advice is greatly received.

Just happened to aquire a 4.6 unit out of a range rover. Current plan is to slap a edelbrock performance manifold and a 650 holley on it to start with.
The only thing ot sure about are the requirements for SVA.

Don't know for definate what the details are. We are aiming for about 275-300 bhp with a lot of torque, so the 4.6 makes a good starting point. It will then be case of leaving the block and modest pile of cash with our engine builder.
