help please - overheating 3000m
Discussion
If you're interested in oil warmup time then consider fitting an oil-to-water cooler. Since the oil warms up much slower than the water, this acts as an oil warmer during the warmup cycle and an oil cooler when it is good and hot. Granted it dumps the heat into the water cooling system, but the heat was going to end up there anyway - this just manages the oil temperature better.

Oil cooler may help, but on my experiences I would suggest that its really only needed for race engines in race conditions. Also positioning can be an issue especially if you have the low radiator as in front impedes air flow into the water radiator and is exposed to stones and other road debris and behind the water radiator is in the hotter airflow from the water radiator.
Never had one in the 3M's I've had or the Vixen so can't really comment. What I had in my Taimar worked and worked well and it was a well used car!

The moral to this is use the car. Whenever I left mine standing for a period it was a bag of nails when used again. Regular use and its great

David,
You are probably right - certaily seem to have more problems since the 18 month layup.
Still having probs. with captive nut on the water pump. I did use 'copperease' when I rebuilt it a few years back (8 now!), and I thought that that would have saved it. Any ideas anyone?
