nice 1970 tvr tuscan v8 for sale on pistonheads.
Discussion
So not really relevant to the topic since my understanding is that Tuscans in any form are not FIA eligible. Fantastic as the car in question is it would make a hideous road car (i,ve had a couple of similar cars over the years) and I cant see other than modsports or the modern equivalent where it would race in Classic car racing. Cue Neilswitch. Be interesting if the owner added to the discussion

To address the issue of whether this is a "real" Tuscan LWB V8, or how the car originally left the factory, it was originally a Tuscan V6 and, of course, all of them were LWB chassis, compared with the original Tuscan V8s which were divided between SWB and LWB chassis. So this one has been modified from its original specification and I suppose, is accurately being advertised as a Tuscan(which it is) and an LWB (which it is).

why is dyslexic so hard to spell? While we are being alan, what is the difference between a Tuscan LWB and an LWB Tuscan? What have Griffiths and FIA/HTP go to do with any of this? Your short answer could have been shorter neil if you referrred to the cars as Griffith 200 and Griffith 400 and if people didn,t know the difference they probably wouldn,t be reading this anyway!
Whatever it is it looks a great car and well proven at driving for a minute at a time. Sensible option would be to buy it, sell the engine and gearbox etc and convert it back to what it was. Dont laugh, somebody is already doing it.
But!!! The griff 400 was never homologated, The 200 was the only car homologated and to confuse "Alan" even more... The 200 document shows a 400 body which is why the 200 notchback (MK3 Granny) bodied cars are not accepted. That coupled with tha fact that 200 series cars were built with both body styles!! means it is not just a simple matter of quoting griff 200 and griff 400.Whatever it is it looks a great car and well proven at driving for a minute at a time. it must be wet in Runcorn is it?? You're usually cutting the grass on a saturday!!
I actually think the car is well advertised. and honestly.
I must however Bow to Mr reid in that he is Correct. No tuscan or any TVR older than 1965 vintage is eligible for Fia.
hence why lots seem to be for sale at the mo.
Isn't it a good thing that there is a whole world of alternative racing out their that isn't Fia though!!
25k looks on the face of it as a nice Class B car for the TVR series next year if you wanted something different. The problem with this car is that It would break a lot of sillouette rules for classic racing, and it is to young for Fia racing.
its market as a racing car is therefor limited.
It seems a waste of a car for 1 minute blasts so I think it will probably end up being re-fettled and re-arched to give it a more standard look.
Or just an insane road car!!

My wife isn't prepared to comment on the subject steveEdited by thegamekeeper on Saturday 23 October 13:44
no idea what the weather is like in Runcorn Neil, never been there since I worked at Halton General but anyway cutting the grass only takes 28 mins 40 secs. Reading between the lines it seems you,ve bought Lisa the Tuscan as a race car so at least one of the Russel family will have a complete car and can go racing

As a Non conforming car due to rule changes and Time to build... I have taken the decision to wait until elligibility for VSCC gets a little closerEdited by thegamekeeper on Saturday 23 October 19:05
Next year see's my 40th year on this earth so I think that milestone marker alone will give me the impetus I need.
Today saw the electrics first fixed and the plastering finished. A big chunk of next years racing budget arrives on Monday Morning in the form of the new kitchen. heres Hoping Mr Reid (Blackpool) has a slot open in December for some sparks.

Life up North must add YEARS!
Get it out in the Thoroughbreds pronto Neil (just pop some 048's on it and drop the ride height, job done. I'll be out before you at this rate
I think they have cut the Grills central horizontal glass fiber bar out and then smoothed it all in to make that shape. Yep would be a fun (full on though) Road toy. For a non FIA race series like Thoroughbreds or CSCC I think it would need to drop down to 7J rims (sure it would be fine bar that - less ANAL!).
