Dear experts.
I have a question about putting a newer engine in a 3000M chassis.
I can buy for easy money a Ford BOB engine (V6 Cosworth). Also I can buy a Ford MT75 manual V6 gearbox including the driveshaft, flywheel and pressure plate.
Question: did someone allready do this conversion?
ECU will be a DTA, Megasquirt or VEMS.

I've just done this conversion (Ford BOA) MT75 etc to my TVR S1. With the BOB it is a more difficult mod as you need more of the wiring sensors etc. If I were to attempt to do this again I'd choose a more modern engine as parts are difficult to obtain. Power is not that great either. I have a spare V6 4x4 manual 'box which could be for sale! The Jag V6 looks a good bet and DamianS3 has just done this.I have a question about putting a newer engine in a 3000M chassis.

Might also be worth asking this question on the wedge forum and the Dunlop challenge forum in the motorsport section as some of the racing Tasmins were converted to the BOA engine , so possibly BOB as well.

I've sent you a PM as well. I did a conversion some years ago with a BOA rather than BOB engine. Echoing the previous comments, I'm not sure if it's a good conversion to do as there are newer engines out there.
The "fordpower" forum has lots of advice on the conversions. It's worth joining the forum and reading up on the "how to" guides. There's plenty of advice there about which gearbox to use - the favourite being a "hybrid MT75" which mixes a 4wd MT75 with a 2wd MT75 to give the right bellhousing to bolt to the engine.

nice specs, I wonder only what turbo-gap it has?

John, These days, it's common practice to add nitrous oxide, as a method to (nearly) eliminate turbo lag. The idea being, that it uses a small shot, just to gap-fill, and get the turbine spooled up.
I'm interested to know what modifications your Essex unit has undergone, to develop 250HP.

Bernard, In the early 1990's my car was owned by a Ford Dealer in the Toledo, Ohio area. Based upon the paperwork that came with the car, he sent the original Essex to Oselli Engineering Ltd, in Oxford. They upgraded the engine to a "Rally Spec" bored, bigger valves, zippier cam, pistons, race headers, etc. It came back to the US with a Holley four barrel carb and intake at around 220HP on their dyno. But, the car was not fast enough for the owner. He then upgraded to a Weber tri-power, a 3 DCNF 40 setup similar to the Dino Ferrari's, and added a direct ignition system, and a limited slip differential and a roll bar. He had it on a dyno here in the US and hit 250hp, and based upon his correspondence, his goal seemed to be to get every single horsepower he could out of the engine and keep it normally aspirated. The thing that surprises me, is why he just did not go for a full blown racing engine option offered by Oselli, but I can only assume he wanted something a bit more durable as opposed to just fast and frequency of rebuild and replacement of racing components. I still have the build sheets from Oselli that he had performed, as well as the many options they offered their customers at the time.

I purchased a good Jaguar 3.0 S Type manual car with 6 months MoT for £600 (it had some rust issues) and sold £300 worth of parts from it.

265bhp - now done 12k miles in 3 years - a happy chappy
