Vinyl roof on M series cars
Discussion
Hi Guys
I am restoring the 3000ml and am going to put a new vinyl roof on the car. The car had a textured painted on Vinyl look roof with foldback sunroof I have sanded most of this off now and below there is no sign of it ever being painted body colour but there is also so sign of it ever having had a vinyl roof, there ar no holes where the trim fixes at the rear I have removed the rear window and no sign of any of the old vinyl there either. So I was wondering if they may have been supplied new with a textured painted on roof or was the design different so no alloy trim was used at the rear?
Cheers Chris

So next question do I get it repainted or a proper vinyl roof fitted. Where car you get the paint from is it still available?

My 3000M has a proper vinyl roof that was done as a replacement by David Gerald in 2001. It still looks OK but is starting to shrink a bit around the edges so will need to start saving for a new one. With my car I will be going for a new vinyl roof rather than the painted effect.
