Just saw in the TV here in Brazil.
Mr. Creighton Brown gave an interview about the TVR factory, and said that the land is already bought, the construction of the buildings will start in two months, and IF everything goes right, first cars will be produced ten months later.
So, start saving the money.
The wait is almost over!

Hey it sounds real good! We've been waiting for quite a while, so 12 more months isn't too bad. I wish TVR would make some public announcements, but I don't think public relations is one of TVR's areas of expertise. Making exciting cars is their area of expertise (but you still need to work the public)!
I can't wait until TVR is ready to take deposits!

I haven't visited PISTONHEADS land in a while, but I have to tell you that my optimism of TVR coming to the USA is severely dimished. They have done next to nothing to promote their product, done nothing to generate passion outside of the UK. Their actions say they want to dominate Porsche in the UK. Their actions do not lead me to believe they intend to expand their horizons. I wish TVR mucho success and hope they come over here--but I'm getting an M3 and having fun now!

I agree with the last posting. TVR could not organise a pi** up in a brewery in the UK let alone on the other side of the pond.

Lets hope the Brazil factory produce a better quality car than Blackpool.

The biggest problem with TVR is their customer relations. They simply dont care what the customer thinks or wants. They have been able to get away with it for years in the UK as us brits arent that demanding.

Obviously Peter Wheeler has not been to the US.
The US is probably one of the toughest markets for new car marques. Americans are 100 times more demanding than the brits and wont put up with the reliability and quality problems that TVR currently and will continue to have.

As an example of their attitude. When the factory was phoned (one of the directors) to say one their brand new tuscans has just caught fire and melted most of the front of the car. Their immediate response was 'its insured isnt it?' and didnt really want to know. Thanks to the dealer, they picked up the car and rebuilt it.

In the US they would have been in court quicker than they could rebuild it (8 weeks).

I believe the Brazilian operation will actually be a separate company building cars under licence with TVR owning a share in it (not sure how big). There is the likelikhood therefore that a completely new PR structure will be put in place.

Wow!

I feel some reason for hope knowing that some progress is being made regarding the return to the USA.

Heck, I'm even impressed that TVR will have a different PR department--can only help matters!

I have a question, though...Why wouldn't TVR increase the prices of their cars by 15%, take the additional resources and use it to engineer their cars for the EU and USA, offer better warranty coverage, refine their manufacturing process, etc.?

Can't wait to see the answer...

To answer the 15% question...
Stop being logical. If TVR added 15% to their prices, they would still offer tremendous value-but the quality expectations would be raised significantly.
I thought TVR was doing the right thing letting Peter Wheeler be interviewed by the New York Times and the likes--gave them great visibility. I just think TVR should have capitalized on the momentum. I hope TVR is here soon!

The good thing about waiting is that the Tuscan/Tamora will be de-bugged even further. I am sure TVR will come to the USA when their cars can be close to reliable. Still want a Tuscan S, though!

I thought the biggest problems with TVR's in the US are the emission problems, as the levels are way above what it says in the manual or 'official figures'.

on the 15% higher prices : a TVR for export out of the
UK always costs 10% more. It doesn't matter if the car
has LHD or RHD : this is just to cover the extra warranty costs for overseas customers.
This is for Europe only...

I've been waiting YEARS for TVR to expand their horizon. I hope for their sake and their survival they re-think the keys to their success. ABS and airbags are a small price for survival you know!

Meyer, have you heard anything else?

Anything new from Creighton Brown?

Is Creighton Brown tied to Penske in any way?

From what I can gather Creighton Brown will be the man running the South American operation which should keep him busy for a couple of years

I don't know if he has any links with Penske.

Spoke to Ben Samuelson. Penske isn't going to happen, TVR is still working on LHD and maybe 12-18 months more.

Hey wait, didn't they say that last year?

How has Morgan managed to sell cars in the USA?

Why is it that Morgan and Lotus can do it and TVR
hasn't?

I wonder if Faisal Kahn has been up to anything regarding TVR making a return to the USA.

I'd love to think we aer getting closer, but there REALLY has been no news to report!

Uh, make it a bit more than 12 months.

Patience will be rewarded all the same I'm sure.

I think Faisal would have had cars over here by now, though...
