The biggest problem with TVR is their customer relations. They simply dont care what the customer thinks or wants. They have been able to get away with it for years in the UK as us brits arent that demanding.

Obviously Peter Wheeler has not been to the US.
The US is probably one of the toughest markets for new car marques. Americans are 100 times more demanding than the brits and wont put up with the reliability and quality problems that TVR currently and will continue to have.

Surely that's not exactly true - it's just that Brits are differently demanding....I mean no self respecting Brit would put up with the standard of car dynamics which is the norm in US - the cars are just engineered with different product goals - longevity & low maintenance being among the top 2. A fun driving experience isn't normally that high up the list.
Don't get me wrong - I think it will be tough for TVR to enter the US market, but there will always be enough people that will overlook some niggles in order to get a unique driving experience.
I also think that it could "improve the breed" if TVR took onboard some of the quality control lessons learned in cracking the US market (assuming they do)

cheers,
Craig

I don't think Porsche would have their degree of success if they had only sold their cars in Europe. TVR will NEVER be successful(stable) if they keep the blinders on. Peter Wheeler is a smart man and knows that this is true. He also knows the EU is not TVR/Sportscar friendly.

Coming to the Western Hemisphere will improve the breed and yes, we will need to be compassionate.

Selling to the other side of the pond will allow TVR to double production and spread their fixed costs over a the greater production. I'll wait 12 months more!

You might like to buy your BLACKPOOL car now before it is too late!!! Blackpool cannot increase production.
LHD & US spec'd TVR's and in the future all TVR's are going to be made a long way away from Blackpool and it will not be in Malaysia either!! Closer to the US than you think!!
The deal has been done.
Even with the high profile partner on board the TVR's as we know them will die.
You will eventually get your US TVR but it will be a very different beast.

You know, no one has visited this forum in 8 months. I called the factory today and they were extremely nice, said they were going to send me a new brochure in a few weeks and said that TVR is working on coming to the USA, they have had thousands of inquiries AND that we were 12-18 months away!
So once again, you can say JUST WAIT TWELVE MONTHS MORE

Can you leave a deposit?

When they say yes to taking your money, you'll know TVR is for real!

The wait resets everytime you visit this thread. So now it's 12 months from now.

I've been visiting this thread for two years now so it's all my fault 'cause I keep starting the 12 months again...

My guess is the wait begins when TVR Engineering finally signs the paperwork to begin importing cars to the US and formally sets up a distributorship and dealer network to sell those cars.
As we should have learned over the past two years, we should not hold our breath.

Saw an article in Motor Trend saying that the regulations have eased sufficientlt that even TVR is thinking about coming back. When you see that TVR's sales are down 20% off their 2000 peak (in terms of revenue), you know that it makes sense for TVR to come back!
