Clerk of the Course
Discussion
One of the “If I ruled the World” actions I would take is to make the instillation of in-car cameras a requirement in every series. The cost these days is less than a set of tyres (hell half a tyre for some) and would assist many CotC’s when they have 2 driver reports and one observer report where the only common facts are the names on the pages (and even then this can be different!)
“Sorry sir, we forgot to turn the camera on” or “Sorry about the Vaseline on the lens” would result in 3 points and removal from the results if caught, a minimum of one camera being checked per round at random.

that's not such a stupid idea.....“Sorry sir, we forgot to turn the camera on” or “Sorry about the Vaseline on the lens” would result in 3 points and removal from the results if caught, a minimum of one camera being checked per round at random.

They also run a yellow and red card system which can ultimately result in possible race bans.

I thought about applying for it.
Then i thought about getting liability insurAnce for myself.
It's got to be a thanks task.
Officials are covered on the MSA's insurance that comes with the permit. You just have to sign on at the start of the day to get covered. Then i thought about getting liability insurAnce for myself.

I haven't renewed my Clerk's licence as I
Being unable to get a satisfactory answer or action out of the permenant staff at the MSA, I gave up the licence.

I haven't renewed my Clerk's licence as Idon't own a blazer don't like them publishing my telephone numbers and email addresses on their website (you have to sign that you agree to this on the application / renewal form). When it was just in the blue book I'd delay sending in the renewal form until after the book was published, but can't do that now. I had a "straw that broke the camel's back" moment when I was doing entries secretary for an event, my work telephone number was deliberately not in the SRs and people that knew I held a clerks licence from me clerking there in the past got my work number from the MSA and called me at work to argue about not getting entries when we were oversubscribed.

separate email address and a cheap pay as you go moby might solve that one :-)I haven't renewed my Clerk's licence as I

as an aside I've always found every coc I've had to deal with as both a competitor and race organiser very helpfull, it doe make it easier having a tame one living across the road from me <LOL>
Ah so does that mean you know which way up to hold the Phone now then??? Ha Ha
I always hold off submitting my Clerks Licence application until March as the money is better in my bank for the 7 months prior to me needing it for an event.
I have had the same issues regarding competitors and over subscribed events. I once had one turn up at work when I was dealing with some influential clients, he started swearing and I told him to leave. He then sent a 5 page letter of complaint to the MSA about me, I think the fact he spelt my name 3 different ways, helped my case. The MSA were very supportive of my actions.
Although I dont do races, I do enjoy the Speed events and Rallies that I am involved in Clerking. I would say speak to a Clerk and ask if you can shadow them, you will find it quite enlightening.
