Valentino Rossi
Discussion
i thought big Col was awesome too, in fact that leading group of four were riding at the very top of their game. But Rossi really did take the piss, when he had that wobble and went over the grass he was back onto them within a lap and once past Barros it was totally surreal to watch him charge off into the mist. Top stuff all round.

Wasnt there something about Rossi getting a test at Fiorano and getting pretty close to Schumacher lap times, any one have details of this?

Thought he preferred rallying.
Needs someone to have a go at Loeb - but then that assumes there will be enough teams around to make a competition of it.

Top TOP talent!!!
Biaggi... Roman Emperor???
Don't make me
It's unlucky for all those talented riders out there that they are in MotoGP when Rossi is. Some good F1 drivers can draw parallels with this - those that were around when Senna was at his peak, or those that have driven in F1 over the past 5 years. Biaggi's past record speaks for itself and can you blame the guy for questioning his own ability when up against Rossi?...even Gibernau shows signs of throwing the towel in
Rossi has to be the closest thing to Senna I've seen for a long time. Superhuman talent, the innate connection with whatever he rides/drives, it's all just
Schumacher is more like Prost...a perfectionist. Unquestionably talented, capable, and focused...the difference (perhaps being only one of perception) is you just feel with those two they worked and learned their way to the top, but with Senna/Rossi it just looks...natural.
Loeb...is hard to place at the moment...unbelievable consistency and totally unflappable...plus he's in the most reliable car (that's actually based on the OLD 306!!!). I'd say it's these three things more than his outright pace that are giving him the wins at the moment...in the same cars both Solberg and Gronholm would be able to drive as fast (faster?!?), but their consistency / ability to avoid trouble might not be up there...but then in rallying what do you need to win???

The guy's on a peak now that Senna was at his best during his career. He's just on another level, plain and simple.
He spent three quarters of the race getting a feel for the conditions, where his rivals were and weren't good and how quick he could go, if need be. And just did it.
Utter, utter class, there's no doubt he's the best motorsport sportsman in the world today.
I don't think he'll go F1 though, I don't think he wants the pressure lifestyle after this amount of time in MotoGP. I reckon he'll do two, maybe three more years in MotoGP and then do some rallying, maybe even sportscars (like Loeb) and then retire properly. Why go to do a series that's shit, when you compete in the closest and most exciting in the world at the moment?

Yeah, I agree with Havoc - Senna, Rossi and now Loeb...all naturals....and having heard what Rossi is said to earn each year...does he need to go into F1?..not for money...but then I can see no way in which he could compete with Loeb and Solberg - two guys who will be at the top of that sport for the next 5 years at least....whereas with Schumacher retiring at the end of next season perhaps there's more chance for Rossi to shine in F1...
Really not an easy decision for him to make is it?

If I were Rossi (I can dream, can't I?) - I'd be looking at F1 and thinking "that's one horrible political mess I don't want to get involved in".
I can't believe there's no politics in MotoGP, but it can't possibly be on the same scale as all the F1 bullshit - particularly last/this season!
Be nice to see him being dominant at MotoGP AND F1 (preferably at the same time).
