I'm planning to attend on the Sunday - where would the best seats be for views? (money no object)?

My first GP (want to go to experience the atmosphere), but need advice from those who have been in the past to make sure I pick the best covered grandstand seats.

Agreed... best seats, best selection of snacks and beers, best toilet facilities, biggest screen and much closer to the action than some windswept shed in Northants..

You might even avoid some talivans by following our suggestion

Other than the other suggestions above.

End of Hanger Straight Grandstand. Probably the overtaking spot on the circuit, you get to see them at full speed down the straight and into/through Vale. If it's raining you also get to see the rooster tails run down to Abbey.

Or

The outside of Woodcote, you'll see them at full speed through Bridge corner, then for all of the complex through Woodcote and depending on where exactly you sit some of or all of the pits straight.

Second this. I've watched 2 GPs from here and it's the best place IMO. Unfortunately, many people seem to agree, so it's the first place to get booked up. Those years I've got tickets, I've booked the Monday after the previous years British GP....

Anywhere in the complex will give an excellent viewing point, plus the huge TV screen means you get to keep in touch with whats happening elsewhere in the circuit.

i like the grandstand at copse. whilst you are a long long way form the action you get a great view of the catrs down the main straight and copse is a good corner to watch you can then follow them up to abbey.
watched a group c revival race from there at dusk and it was nice.

Why not be a wandering spectator - a lot easier now with only 60,000 on race day. You see far more of the action from every corner.

Time it right and you can watch the start, tour the circuit and end up back at the start in time for the finish.

Bags cheaper and better value.

Pit Straight Grandstand.
We used to use the Farm enclosure to watch the qualifying (when it was interesting) and always had seats on the pit straight for the race itself. You can request specific ones if you book early enough, we always used to get opposite the podium which also gives a half decent view of the pit stops too.
But to see all the grid build up is excellent too, lots going on, and when the lights go green Awesome.
Don't take ear-defenders either it spoils the noise. I SAID DON'T TAKE EAR DEFENDERS.

Thanks for all the response, guys! I was just curious though - why are the Copse A Grandstand seats more expensive than the Woodcote A seats? Is it simply to do with proximity to the Pits?

Is proximity to the pits a good thing? I mean, after you've seen one pitstop - you've seen them all.

It's based on the fact that the seating opposite the best overtaking spots is the most desirable - therefore, for modern F1 racing a seat opposite the pits is best

I've just got a GA ticket for the weekend ...don't bother with Grandstands - prefer to be able to move around freely

However, I usually watch the race on Sunday from Club corner There's a big screen there ...and the view is good

Right - you go to Silverstone TO WATCH THE BIG TV????????????????

I thought the reason you went to motor racing events were to:

i) get close to he action

ii) see the drivers and protagonists up close

iii) get a good look at the cars

iv) soak up the atmosphere

From what I understand of modern F1, you can just about manage iv). The rest is off limits to mere mortals.

And make sure you get a centre transfer. Last time we went, they were £25 a go. But well worth it for not having to queue so much for the toilets or the food.
An added bonus is while waiting for Mrs. .Mark to come out of the toilets I managed to see 22 Grid Girls all come out in procession. (A bit like the GP itself).

No the big screen is to show what is happenning elsewhere on the track - the bits you can't see in front of you

From experience...it's really advisable to have one of those radio ear plug things tuned in to the Silverstone radio channel...cos you can't hear the loudspeaker system....that's because of the noise

You are fairly close to the cars, you do soak up the atmosphere ....and it's great

Radio definatly a must. Even on quiet events the loadspeaker system is shite and echos all around you, so you stand no chance on F1 day.

Just thought of a even better place to watch...the BRDC Drivers Club lounge/balcony. All the views you want with TV's on top, air conditioned bar, food and clean toilets.
Its getting in thats the problem!

Cor - radio and TV required. Why bother going?

To be honest, I am being facetious. I just think the admission price is abhorent and, compared to the Goodwood Revival (or lots of other motor sport events for that matter) the public IS kept too far back.

I've been to one GP, not Silverstone, but Imola and the atmosphere WAS fantastic. Of course, being a great cicuit with great fans and a great atmosphere, Imola has just been canned by Bernie. Which more or less proves my view that F1 is losing its way more and more.

Silverstone is great

F1 is great

...perhaps the detractors on this thread should actually go to a Silverstone F1 race live.
