How are we looking Graham?

Have we got a pit crew/team manager sorted yet? It looks like there's a fair bit of support from PHers already, so would be good to pull them together and make it a bit more formal so we know who's doing what.

I've not had much time to sort things formally other than the main entry at the moment but im still working on it. The entry has changed slightly as stig has gone and got himself entered on 2 teams.

the current entry is

Graham Walden :- TVR Tasmin
Dom Mooney :- Mg Midget class A
Richard Burgess :- Ginetta G20R
Ed Hasler :- Westfield
Gareth Penn :- MG Midget class B (ex ingear test driver )
Andy Holden :- TVR Tuscan ( come on TVR let him use the engine)

I have a couple of offers for team manager at the mo.

What i suppose i need to find out now is what support each driver will be bringing with them, and then check on the number of other support we've got.

SO if everyone can let me know that i'll start from there.

My team will be myself, plus a full assortment of tools (can bring MIG welder and compressor if required).

I will be there, I have a national A licence, but no car as already discussed.
I am willing to hire one for a reasonable fee if you get let down by anyone.
Failing that I have experience in looking after saloon cars and Caterhams so am willing to either co-ordinate the team or muck in as required. I am unable to bring a great quantity of tools as at the moment I only have one car which is a Lotus Exige so I don't have much room for anything. Boy, do I ever regret selling my Jeep?

I'll bring at least one spannerman with me (complete with spanners).

Looking forward to this now - just got to get the car through the Thruxton races at the weekend first though

Ran out of time in the end - so it is all Electric Blue (no fancy two tone colour schemes this time). Looks great in the sunlight though - I'll post some pics once I've got the stickers on this week.

Did your car survive Thruxton daydreamer? I went along to see the GT races on Monday and saw a number of damaged cars. Something happened in the chicane I believe....

I keep meaning to come and say hello at one of these races but I don't know what your car looks like!

The car survived quite well - although we were a bit (read a lot) slow. Still, looking at it as a shakedown (finished the rebuild on Friday), a chance for me to blow the cobwebs out after a pretty major smash and a chance to try out a new direction on race setup (which went very wrong ) all in all quite a good weekend. Most importantly, finished ahead of Lorain Pinner in both races, so at least some pride saved .

I kept meaning to come across to the Insane awning again, but being one of 60% of the field to fail the ride height check, putting a new rack on after stupid o' clock qualifying and wanting to get a spanner on absolutely everything we could - ran out of time.

Will definitely be more sociable - and back on the pace - at our tripple header Brands round though .

Rich.

ps - will post pictures of the car at lunchtime.

Being a novice myself and having been soundly thrashed by VBH (not literally unfortunately) earlier on in the season neither.

Like everybody else, we wanted to know where the FW competitors would come to give some sort of benchmark.

Remember that Straton McKay (sp) came 5th in a Ginetta race, the eventual winner of be a grand prix driver did OK in a Tuscan and Neil Purdie is still trying to get out there to properly compete, being a novice in a search for a star type programme can mean that you are bloody good if you win.

I am also still waiting to see any reason why a woman would be a disadvantage in a non downforce assisted short (25 min) race.

So, as I said - it was more to do with the particular championship rather than the sex or experience of the competitors.

Edit to answer the question:- Two people with the same experience, mine in a Ginetta, Lorraine in something much different having hardly driven a Ginetta before. Hence being relieved to come in first despite a not quite right car. Anyway - it is always nice to beat the celeb cars .

Yeah I guess I was playing devil's advocate by asking the question.

I was at Thruxton on Monday by Club chicane and the battle at the back between you, Lorraine and white/blue car was one of the more interesting things to watch.

How did you get past on the last lap as i seem to remember Lorraine was ahead of you after the safety car period?

SF.

True, but only just in the second race.

Richard BURGESS 27:06.951 12 54.226 62.55 1:36.065
Lorraine PINNER 27:07.099 12 54.374 62.55 1:34.622

I make that crossing the line 0.148s ahead of her, with your fastest lap being 1.443s slower than her.

Good to see you out there and racing Richard - and of course I do understand the issues you have with your car. Watch out Rob Austin at the next round!

Woke up - or certainly according to the guys that spend Sunday fixing the car!

We were only washing out badly in the middle of the corners. I don't think that Lorraine was flat through Church, so I had a bit of a lift on the way in, turned in really late and straight lined it, managing to get close enough on the exit to drive past fairly easily. Pretty much how she got past me really

Regarding Tom Ferrier and Rob Austin, we have always know that they were good, but for Rob to apparently just drop himself into an F3 car and casually pick up a third in the second race was pretty unbelievable. It would appear a little unfair that he is not the name on everyones lips - instead he gets very little recognition.

Still they both do the Ginetta championship a lot of good. I'm sure that the photo of Rob's final chicane in the first race - with all four wheels feet off the ground - will appear several times in the racing press over the next week or so.

Finally - yes Jeremy, the fact that I was woefully slow all weekend has never been in doubt . However, the plus side is that we got to shake the car down - try something new and I have never been up for a weekend so much as for the Brands one coming next - which at the end of the day is why we all do it.

Rob and Tom are safe (for the time being ), but a top ten would be nice!

Well done mate - never easy coming back after a big smack - particularly after a long lay off.

We must have a beer at Brands!
