2023: BTCC chat & discussion

Watched all of the program yesterday (apart from the F4, I always wander off and do something else when they are on).
Like most people, I`m bewildered by the penalty on Hill. Sutton turned across him whilst Hill was going straight, it all just felt felt very strange. Everyone knows if it had been Sutton instead of Hill, no way on Earth would he have lifted, yet he was completely blaming Hill for not doing. Sutton is a brilliant driver, but why don't they ever say "do you know what, I was trying to close him off, I misjudged slightly and we touched". I suppose that's the difference between a professional racing driver and us. They have a focus and self belief we don't
Some good racing in most of the races, De Haan was like watching Harry King a few years ago where he was astonishingly quick or binned it.

Is it just me, or do most races not seem to suite the strengths of the BMWs.
I felt last year that there were only a handful of races where the BMW's had the upper hand, the rest of the time either that track or conditions didn't suite them.
I wonder if they'd be better switching to a front wheel drive 1 series then at least they'd have parity with the rest of the grid?

Surly that was Sutton cutting across hill that caused the start. How did hill get penalised for that.
I’m very confused by that decision.Either no penalty at all or Sutton should have had a telling off.
The wrong driver got a penalty in that decision, and really neither needed penalising.
The BTCC races were entertaining, the weather can throw up some strange results.
I tend to switch off when anything about the Hybrid deployment system is mentioned though, I just concentrate on the actual racing.
It was a bit of a Porschefest... but they were watchable.
NB; Whinging Sutton, just admit that you got it wrong... Jake didn’t deserve his grid penalty.

I thought it was entirely Sutton's fault, strange decision.I tend to switch off when anything about the Hybrid deployment system is mentioned though, I just concentrate on the actual racing.

Sutton also used the side of Ingram's car as his braking point for the hairpin on the last lap of R3 which went unpunished At what point is Hill suppose to say, "Ah sorry Ash.... after you...!" As was previously said. Sutton would have done the same.
Either way, Hill still got a podium and Sutton walked back to the pits and started at the back in the next round, so in the end his own "billy big bks" behaviour backed fired on him!
Great start to the 2023 British Touring Car Championship at Donington Park! Great start for Dan Cammish! Great debut for Andrew Watson! The real hero has got to be Nicolas Hamilton though for his Race 2 performance! Happy for Tom Chilton and gutted for Ronan Pearson.

Enjoyable meeting. Great race 3 in the main series and good to see a strong start for DamCam and Tings.
Loved Wookie's "Rothmans" livery, and enjoyed both Carrera Cup races.
Only black spot was that Mini crash - you hate to see a driver slumped over the wheel like that. Anybody know if he's OK?
