Utterly sublime.

This is the only car I'd (almost) sell my sould for. On the condition that when this mortal coil & I part, I get to spend eternity behind the wheel, even if it is a tad 'warm' inside laugh

The pics remind me of a track day @ the Nurburgring (GP circuit) where Christian Glasel (sp?) and his Lanzante' lads were having a great old time. IIRC he was the lapping so quick that the F1 Ferraris (ex MS 2001/2/3 IIRC) were keeping out of his way!

on the road, the shorttail looks far better, more nimlbe andagile, on the track however, the longtail just looks far more purposeful. i remember the 1000km race at silverstone in 1998 with the F1 GTR, the Panoz, the CLK-GTR and the 911 GTR

seven figures though? thats crazy, no real series for them to race in of note whereas for that money you could get a 956/962/XJR-11 with notable history...
Still I bet someone wil pay well over 2M USD for this.

Because: "The General price of a McLaren F1 is around One Million dollars, however limited exotics such as a McLaren F1 LM gain value over time and as of 2008 the car has been labeled to be 2.2 Million dollars."

I had the pleasure of crawling all over GT1 Porsches, Lister Storms and McLaren F1’s for a number of years (not to mention the Sintura and other such lovelies.)

Steve O’Rouke’s (RIP) EMKA F1GTR LM car for me please. Spent many happy hours in the pits taking to him, his team and tiny Tim about it.

I was about to point out Bingo as well, they do have an amazing stock list, but the GTR has been for sale with them for a number of months now. I think the problem with the car is what you would do with it now. I am not sure if it would be eligible for a race series now, please jump in if you know better. Also would McLaren provide technical support and parts for the race cars?
But apart from that if I had the money, I would say "sod it" and buy it anyway cloud9

The Sintura brings back some happy memories at Croft. Nice to know someone else remembers it.

Bingo (silly name) are at or near the top of the unofficial hierarchy of supercar dealers in Japan but their are many more.

here's a few that are worth a look.

Nope, IIRC all series this was eligible for have long since ceased to be. Pity.

IMHO, I feel it will go to a customer of Lanzante' (if not already a customer, they probably soon will be as Lanzante' are the only folk outside of Mclaren authorised to work on the F1's) for use as a track car/plaything really. If this occurs it will be better than it sitting in a collection of other fine motors as a museum piece.

GT90's would have it like a shot. As for McLaren i am sure that they would be prepared to provide, the necessary support where required in return for some legendary bills...

munch997, that don't look like a normal F1, it looks like it's got the High Downforce Kit, it also has the raised air intake scoop on the roof like a GTR Longtail does

I remember that race at Donington too - absolutely awesome, with the F1 in the Gulf / Day Off livery. FIA GT has never quite lived up to that since; nothing (except maybe petrol LMPs) look or sound like those beasties these days. If I was a gazillionaire, I'd snap it up. It might not have the history, but God, it looks fantastic!
I would need to delve into my programme collection, but if I recall, those races were 4hrs and not 1000kms. Also, the Panoz did not compete in FIA GT in 1998 - it was 911GT1, CLK LM (the GTR only ran in 1997) and a single long-tail F1 GTR for Thomas Bscher. They visited both Silverstone and Donington in 1997 and I was there for both, including getting heroically wet at Silverstone. I do not recall a Silverstone round in 1998, but I'm happy to stand corrected. I certainly attended Donington.

In my opinion 1996 and 1997 were a high point, although 1996 was the old Karcher BPR series, before Bernie and Max launched a coup...
Right you are; must have been 97 then - was definitely the CLK-GTR (the LM was uglier) and the Panoz was deafeningly, definitely there. I guess the F1 had lost its sponsor support by that point, hence the Day Off livery. Unless the UK had banned aftershave advertising?!
