He also forgot to inform Bobby Thompson — it will make his year!

Regs states that because the teams design and manufacture the cars themselves, that qualifies them as a manufacturer. Don't confuse manufacturing race cars with car manufacturers (i.e. 1990s era).
Is is confusing though, don't most teams design and build their own cars?

Even TOCA are unclear on this. They refer to "The Manufacturers/Constructors Championship", "manufacturers/importers/constructors", "manufacturer-backed teams", "full manufacturer-backed entries", and then in the "Sporting Regulations & Commercial Undertakings" document, they state:

The Manufacturers/Constructors Championship:
"For the purpose of this regulation, a 'Constructor' is defined as the entrant, company or individual who is the originating designer and builder of their own competing cars. Classification as a Constructor may not necessarily exclude their eligibility for any or all of the awards or prize money offered to Independent entrants. The final decision as to which entrants may be eligible to be classified as a Constructor and/or for any awards or prize money available to Independent entrants rests solely with the Administrator, whose decision will be final."

There’s a teaser shot of the MB car which looks like it might have a hatch body.
It's certainly not a "teaser" shot, it's just a re-post of an image from the 2023 LTR livery launch.

Therefore not a hatch body!

And (as stated above), not a pre-announcement either. Just a photo from last year, but it's certainly done the job of getting people talking and speculating.

Touring... Not many tourers being represented now.
What do you mean by "tourer" exactly? Tourer used to mean a convertible, but them BMW started using "touring" to mean an estate car (or station wagon).

I've always thought that "touring car" in a motor racing context meant an ordinary saloon car, usually a four door. But it could be a 5-door hatch as well. Growing up in Australia, touring car racing was in my blood, and it was mandatory that you supported one of the "big three", even in primary school. So they were mostly 4-doors, but the Chargers were 2-doors. Still a touring car though.

So with that definition, I'd say that the current batch of cars that race in the BTCC are certainly "touring cars".

I'm assuming he's going into GT racing this year.

If he took the BMW or Toyota seat... 'Huffy' could have the other one.
It was Huff's main sponsor that recently announced (Feb 16) a "partnership" with Speedworks. Read into that what you will.

He’s the leading contender for the WSR seat, but there’s been a few hurdles to over come.
I don't think he's the leading contender now!

I may end up eating my words and I hope that I am wrong, but does anyone else feel that Huff is just a little overrated and all the excitement around his return is going to disappoint. Based on his form of the last 10 years, I really don't expect him being anywhere near title winning positions no matter what car he is in.
I agree. All hail the conquering hero. Remember Andy Priaulx in 2015? At Autosport in January, it was all hail the conquering hero, OMG, we're not worthy, Andy Priaulx in the BTCC!

He got a few podiums and finished 8th in the championship, which was very creditable, but certainly didn't set the championship alight.

I suspect, the drive will be funded by whatever excess the other drivers bring to their programmes
That's not how it works. Other drivers are not going to subsidise Huff. All the deals are as tight as a drum. There is no "excess". Why would a driver agree to their hard-earned sponsorship money going to another competitor?

or do you think that there is one price for all hehe
There may not be one price for all, but you can bet that Andrew Watson (MB Motorsport) and Cook/Moffat are not subsidising Huff! As has been stated earlier, he's brought a substantial sponsor with him (which has already been announced), so whether Huff gets paid from the deal is between him and his sponsors.

Isn't the 'amateur' driver subsidising the pro found more in GT racing rather than BTCC?

Anyway, let's not get too bogged down in all the financial details of driver's contracts etc, it's all rather boring.
Wise words.

Odd response to a fair question on a discussion forum. I’m not sure he needs to be personally affected to ask that.
It was in reference to the "damn Astra".

Maybe he's been personally affected by these "damn" Astras in the past? Who knows. Or maybe it's the PH herd mentality where you must hate Vauxhalls or you're not allowed to sign up to PH.
