Missed the first corner incident was gutted, usually F1 is all about the first corner. Glad I continued to watch. F1 is so much better this year.

What do people think of the one set of boots for the whole weekend rule? Certainly put Ferrari back in their box but I can see a few accidents over the next few races due to tyre wear.

Best rule change in ages. Makes drivers think a bit about their driving style. The previous "format" for F1 did not reward care or finesse or intelligence.

I've been away all weekend - can I ask, what were the rule changes?

I assumed that Kitcarnewbie was referring to the new rules introduced for the 2005 season. The only change implemented for THe European GP was the abandoning of Sunday morning qualifying.

We were refering to the new tyre rules. To those who follow F1 religiously they are probably old hat now, but that was the first of the season that I've watched!

when kimis wheel fell off i thought "hmm glad that didnt happen at monaco".... great way to save money shame it could have resulted in a serious injury though.....

and yes, james allen ruined a perfectly good race with his nonsense at the end. they are racing drivers, if kimi had pitted as james was so desperate for him to do so, i would have lost all respect for kimi as a racer. as it was her took the gamble and it didnt pay off this time...

The F1 teams are able to monitor all sorts of telemetric data.
McLaren believed that they had very clear real-time data on the stresses on that corner of Kimi's car and that all the components would hold for the duration of the race.
It's been indicated to me that none of the carbon bits broke, but rather that a fastener or fitting came loose. It seems that everything else was intact and they could have reassembled the whole corner with the existing components and continued to race the car.

My sentiments exactly!

Perhaps Allen is unaware that motor racing is a dangerous sport
