And you also fail to miss the point I am making, this is about me, not you. It's my money and mileage, not yours, you might love this form of racing but I am beginning to move on from it now, it is often rather dull and this is coming from someone who has spent the last few years watching GTWC races religiously.
I have been to this meeting about 4 or 5 times over the years and this year failed to see why I would make the trip, it did not warrant it for me. Sprint series is sadly lacking for me, and has been for a few years, yes there are some good drivers, but after about 10 minutes of the first race seeing no passing, it confirms my decision.
Brands is a great track to drive on, but awful for these big cars, they just can't pass. And in general SRO GT racing is struggling for passing, even Monza was not that great passing wise.
And remember, this is my opinion, it is based on my experiences of watching, not your facts or your opinions OK?

I think when I went last year the Caterham races were brilliant, made GT3 look like an F1 race without DRS to be honest
You have tour opinions Ahonen, they are yours, not mine, you can correct me if you like but it will not change my mind and I ignore them, the fact that a driver like Marciello can lapmuch quicker than the field then sit behind a guy for 10 laps says it all. These cars on this track are almost impossible to overtake, it takes mistakes only to pass.
And the fact that on this track this is the first time a driver from lower than 3rd on the grid has EVER won a race here says far more to me than you ever could, sorry.
Saying that the last half hour was interesting, the pitstops inject some much needed diversity.

Awesome result for Rossi.
Did he win the second race?? I had to go before it finished. To head to airport A true legend of motorsport in every way.

A little sad that the winning team were almost completely ignored in the melee around Rossi, but that is the way I guess their strategy and pitting was majestic
Its a two edged swordRossi clearly improved the attendance figures by a decent margin. The number in yellow was pretty remarkable, for a car race
It is sad in many ways that people went to see one individual rather than for the sport itself
Were they bike fans who just love Rossi, Car fans who have adopted him, or a bit of both
Only watched the first race on TV but the Sunday attendance looked excellent - possibly bigger than the recent BTCC?
Guess the better weather helped, too.
I'm a bit in the same camp as Luke when it comes to GTWC these days - it used to be a viewing fixture but I'm a bit meh currently...
Miss the Bentleys!!

Awesome. I know not to engage with you in the future. You can continue to think the grid is poor and that beyond the top five teams they are just playing at it. I know many of the teams, engineers and Pro drivers very well and therefore know your opinion is based on ignorance. You must understand that sometimes the people you argue with on here have far more knowledge of the subject than you do. Back on the races, Rossi drove superbly in race 2. I thought Charles would pass him fairly quickly but he held the gap well and made no mistakes. Brands is such a brilliant track to watch GT3 cars in full flow and because it's so tough to pass the moves tend to be monsters when they happen. The drivers absolutely love the place and any European driver on their first visit is left wide-eyed after FP1.

We went last year - because of Rossi, nd again we went this year because of Rossi, would we have gone last year if Rossi wasn't racing - No we wouldn't, Would we go next year if Rossi wasn't racing - more than likely we would.Back on the races, Rossi drove superbly in race 2. That's good to read. Did you go for a wander round the GP loop? Watching the cars blast up to and through Sheene (or Dingle Dell as it was when I last spectated) used to be a highlight in the Group C and GT1 years.freedman said:

Mostly bike fans who worship him. They were still hanging out in the paddock at something like 11pm on Saturday night and suddenly he appeared and started signing autographs. Conversely what was funny on Sunday was Lando Norris wandering around the paddock almost unnoticed. He was there all day, just as a happy spectator.

If you need another fix Steve British GT is back at Brands Hatch in September I believe! GT3 and GT4 so always good fun.Gassing Station | General Motorsport | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
