I have heard people saying in another thread:

They are having trouble finding sponsorship and the guy responsible isn't very good at his job and thus they cut and paste the corporate social responsibility webpage over the car.

Beats me why they didn't just leave it painted black - seems to drive like a hearse. This whole episode in Honda F1 has degenerated into a farce and has got to be the most embarrassing showcase for Honda engineering, I can't imagine the corporate angst this must be causing. Expect a night of the long knives to sweep through the organization within the next week. Seeing Sato qualify in 10th in a Super Aguri will mean huge loss of face for Honda Works management - heads and other parts of the anatomy will be rolling this week.

Exactly why would Honda need sponsorship ?

sure got me there.

they must have thought about that one too much 'i know, lets not sponsor ourselves but leap on a contentious bandwagon and look a bit hypocritical' (btw f1 has been carbon neutral since 1997 before people started whinging)

Honda need sponsorship because like any business they cannot be sen to just throw money at motorsport. Sponsors can give cash, equipment, knowledge and added value to a team. Honda made a US $ 1.1 billion profit last year mainly due to a weak Yen and if spending upwards of US $ 300 million a year on F1 without winning people will ask questions. Put simply F1 cars have space for sponsors logo's and hospitailty suites to fill, why ignore a decent revenue stream?

The real question should be ... what on earth are they up to?

Thank goodness for Lewis Hamilton, don't think i can bear to watch their 'jam-cars' being lapped.

Are its green credentials down to the fact that it seems to be powered by a hamster in its wheel?
