Good news indeed, weekend pass sensibly priced. What's not to like?

Sounds promising!

Only ever been to DP once, and that was for the free Renault World Series a few years ago... it's was awful...
It was that very event (2 hours to get in, 5 hours to get out) which made me certain from the outset that the F1 plan would never work. Donington is a fantastic circuit though - I'd encourage you to go back when it's not rammed full of chavs after a freebie.
The queueing was a joke, the whole M1 was jammed!!

Even worse was all the Stella swigging dheads that were there once you did get in, and the Portaloos... vomit
Stuff of nightmares isn't it. Football shirts and badly spelt tattoo's at motorsport. Yes, I know i'm being a snob.

local track for me too, have done 2 track days there and its a fantastic track, been to numerous races there aswell and has always been cracking!

the only downside for any major event has always been the access, The only way you could of managed with the F1 there was if you put in a duel carriage way all the way from the track to the M1

Nori Haga on the YZF-750

Nige in the BTCC Mondeo

Rossi on the Aprilia 125

Doohan on the "screamer" NSR500

Walker's GSX-R750 dropping a valve

Not to mention the stuff I watched on telly. Donington holds some precious memories for me, and I wish it all the best.

Don't forget Ayrton in '93. Epic race!

It seems bike racing will be returning to Donington even earlier:

Very pleased about that! Felt like crying when I saw the MCN vid of it looking like a ghost track. Will it re-open in the old format, or new?

I hope they've replaced that temporary concrete retaining wall near the edge of the track between McLeans and Coppice that was there last year, I'd have serious reservations on racing with that there again

Great news! I've only raced at Donny the once, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. The Kramer Curves (is that how you spell Kramer?) are terrifying, but what a rush when you survive them & nip round the old hairpin...

Can't say it's my favourite track, that accolade goes to Oulton Park, but it's up there with Oulton and Cadwell, without a doubt.

Thank goodness. My favourite UK track (apart from the Melbourne Loop). Everything just flows so naturally.

How the hell did I miss this article for the last couple of days?

Bloomin' fantastic news. Even though Oulton is my local track, Donington is probably my favourite. Certainly my favourite track day venue so far. Brilliant news. Can't wait to get there for as many events as possible.

Well done to all involved, and a big thank you. I hope the crowds turn out now to make it all worth their while.

Fan bloody tastic, that knoob Gillet wants castrating for what he and his team have done to Donnington. Hopefully now it will return to it`s former glory but with better bogs and better access. Regrassing the infield shouldn`t be a problem either, Wembley must be about due for digging up again.

I cant wait. I have a friend who lives a stones throw from the circuit, in Donington Village. I miss the noise of weekends racing there. Hope there are a few track days in before the end of the season
I only live 10 mins away from it.

I was there at the weekend for the Download Festival.
It took us 2 1/2 hrs to get the M1 from the circuit. How they ever thought they could make it work is beyond me.

Thankfully they failed and it's back at the only circuit that could possibly accommodate a modern GP though unfortunately at the cost of us loosing the one of the best circuit in UK for a year

I have been inside the circuit delivering gravel for the run off areas a few times in the last week, the track has been repaired, some of the run off areas have been extended and things are looking good.

completion is due by the end of August.

Well done to Adroit.

good to see that the circuit will soon be back in use. i agree that the access to the track has always been awful however that isnt the fault of the circuit is it? lets not forget how bad it used to be getting into, & out of, silverstone.
i was at donington in 93 - who can forget senna's sublime first lap? i was at that bottom of the craner curve's for that race. just awesome watching the f1 cars streaming down the track.
in all honestly it isnt an f1 circuit is it? sad but true, however i cant wait for the track to re-open.
i did read in autosport a few weeks ago that the clowns who wrecked the circuit in the first place took down the dunlop bridge & whilst they retained the outer cladding they scrapped the internal structure!
where on the track is the bridge going back to assuming it is re-built. cant believe that the bridge was more or less scrapped.
idiots.
