Hoping to see a " leggy" on the podium tomorrow.
BTW his celebration of drinking champagne from one of his prosthetics is known as doing a " Leggy "
A truly inspirational young man .
I am looking forward to him being one of the crop brits making it to the top flight in motorsport.

Fair play on the lad for going to see the marshals in the morning: https://scontent-lht6-1.xx.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/4243...

Before the the action kicked off here at Donington Park today, Billy monger made a stop-off at the marshal briefing to meet the hundreds of volunteers in orange, without whom racing couldn’t take place.

Many of the marshals at this weekend's event were at the circuit last April, when Billy suffered his life-changing accident, and this was a first opportunity for the 19-year-old to say hello and thank you.

Speaking at the briefing, he commented: "I just wanted to come here this morning to say thank you for everything you do - we couldn't go racing without you guys. For me as a driver, you let us do what we love so a big round of applause for everything you do for us."

He then joked: "Obviously, I've had a chance to meet some of you guys about 18 months ago with my accident, which feels like a lifetime ago now. You should feel very proud of yourselves for what you do and I hope you have a nice race day with not too much to do this time, I don't want to be seeing you too often when I'm out on track!"

He has just been on BBC breakfast, after they showed his crash. Shocking, however many times you see it.
Hs deserves every success and he was saying the Fia had to change their rules to allow him fo drive

To be fair to the FIA, they had apparently already been looking to that rule, so I guess Billy made a good "test case" for them.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/resources/idt-sh/I_lost...
From the above link:
"When Billy finally went to to meet the FIA, it was good news. They had ruled in his favour. The previous ban on disabled drivers obtaining a licence to drive single-seater cars had been lifted, providing that the car had been suitably modified and that drivers could pass all safety checks. The final barrier to Billy getting back on the racetrack was gone.

Nathalie explained that the FIA had begun to look into this rule before Billy’s accident."

"Nathalie McGloin, head of the FIA’s newly formed Disability and Accessibility Commission" is the Nathalie, in question.

Billy is incredible but as I posted some time back after he gave a particular interview, sometimes his expression and tone of voice are giving away a real sadness within him at what he has lost. That is evident in this programme at times as well.

I hope that in the long years to come, as his parents age and the public fuss has died down, that he is able to cope. "After the Lord Mayor's Parade", so to speak.

I hope I don't sound too negative. He's truly awesome, I just feel so bad for him and what has happened to him has got to have hurt him mentally.

He does seem to have shut away something , I do find him to be an amazing young man and believe he will be the first disabled champion .
Maybe his ability to close some things away is that thing that separates the champions from the also rans .
If you spend any time with champions you soon realise that they are different to the rest of us .
