If that isn't the recently restored P/1046, then it's the most accurate copy I've ever seen.

bottom 2 will have people scratching their heads.
Was lucky enough to drive both the bottom two through PH back in the day, WTCC write up https://www.pistonheads.com/features/ph-features-m...

For me though it has to be something evoking from my childhood...

Watching this at Birmingham Superprix (or whatever they called it)

I always wanted a go but never managed it yet, tried to convince VW Racing to put a PD170 lump in the Plato chassis. The WTCC/BTCC cars still had DPF's in place.

My road going PD170 I owned at the time ran 3" turbo back exhaust with no boxes or DPF, it sounded a lot better!

that pic was taken after it was decommissioned from BTCC as it shows it's wide body Thundersaloon shape.

Race: a competition between runners, horses, vehicles, etc. to see which is the fastest in covering a set course.

ergo a rally is also a race.

Races involve competitors racing each other at the same time , and in the same place. Rallying .like speed hill climbing, is a race only against the clock and any 'overtakes' are not effected by one competitor physically passing the other

Anyone care to explain why, what looks like a kit car to me, is £600K?!

Because I’m (almost) the PlayStation generation, the Pikes Peak Suzuki Escudo will always be a favourite.

Ask me tomorrow and it’ll be something different though - maybe the Lister Storm LMP or L555 BAT or Carlos Sainz’ Repsol Escort... or the Audi R10 TDI LMP car, or the Bentley Speed 8.... sorry.

Race against the clock is still a race, the clue is in the word 'race'

Rallying has competitors running the same stage at the same time. They just have a staggered start order. And they can and do overtake, should the car in front be caught.

Or are you suggesting something like a marathon also isn't a race, as that too is against the clock, not your finishing order over the line.

If only for the cheeky motif smile

... but also because it had to be restricted to meet GT1 regs (straight away, how cool is that?) and even then was an absolute rocket.

There’s a video somewhere of it blowing out it’s arse on one bank round Thruxton (head gasket probs), still blasting past GT2 cars like they’re standing still cloud9

What wins a rally is the shortest time over a succession of stages , sometimes spread over several days . Overtaking happens exceptionally. , unlike in racing where places are gained through overtaking .

Well , that's another 5 minutes gone in this interminable lockdown ...
