It's a Jag therefore I want it to win, but pretty? Not from where I'm sitting.

The regular XF is only just starting to grow on me, but this looks all wrong.

Having stared a while longer it's definitely not helped by the Italian colours. Racings jags need to British Racing Green, not that fetid colour.
Yeah, would be nice to see it in a proper green.. tongue out
i remember a few years back the jaguar f1 team wouldnt use "proper" british racing green because the paint had to high a lead content!!! apparantly it was too heavy!!!silly could this be the case here too?
Where on earth did you hear that? rofl

It was to do with how the colour appeared on TV screens - just like everything else in F1.
nope im not dreaming it, its been mentioned on autosport.coms forums too, that lotus wont use BRG because it is apparantly too heavy, and jag did change the green for tv purposes too, but also because the paint was heavy. im not making it up i swear

I had vaguely heard of this series but did not know too much about it until now. IMO, it should be the template for a pan European DTM, rather than the aero dominated 2 manufacturer prototype series we have now.
Would be nice to see more manufacturers in the DTM, but their cars are a world of sophistication ahead of Superstars and I suspect that's how Audi and Mercedes want it and like it. They're much quicker as well. However, Superstars cars move around plenty and make the right noises. The supercharger whine on the S-Type was amazing. Plenty of scope for both series co-existing anyway.
Merc & Audi obviously like the sophisticated approach but Autosport commented on the poor quality of the racing this year in their review of the series recently.

If Superstars cars "move around more & make the right noises" then maybe they would be more attractive to spectators & TV &, due to their lower sophistication, cheaper to run. It would seem that privateers could also develop & run their own versions. All to the good, I would say.

Is it on TV?

Yes, the Germans seem very keen on keeping DTM as a technofest. They liked it in the Class 1 days and they've recently been resistant to BMW's courtings with a more GT-orientated approach. I think it's nice to have more sophisticated cars, but haven't seen many overtakes during my last couple of trips to Brands. Superstars, on the other hand, saw a remarkable drive through the pack from Morbidelli and plenty of jostling from further back as well. As an alternative to the pretty mediocre S2000 rules which succeeded Super Touring, I think 7.0L V8s rather fit the bill. If only WTCC and BTCC could be persuaded to adopt them, I'm sure the remaining domestic S2000 championships would soon follow suit. Doesn't seem very "eco" though does it? Shame...

Back to the XF. Mmmmmmm nice.
Why don't we have a series like that in the UK. Why is it the Italians, who have no home-grown big-bangers, doing it? Says a lot for the Italian automotive market when one of their most successful (in terms of spectator appeal) racing championships is for cars they don't make at home.
Hmmm...

None at all. DTM is for steel space frame cars with silhouette bodywork, rigidly controlled 4.5 litre V8, a common Hewland gearbox. The Jag is a steel monocoque. Its lik saying it would be nice to see an F3 car in a sports car race - the two are completely different concepts - they just look vaguely similar

I have heard this too, I have always been sceptical of how true it is, but this rumour for sure is out there.

It's nice, but prettiest touring car? I'd say late '70s DRM 320i turbo for cool factor. While we're at it, how 'bout a Jag Mk.II or Ford Galaxie that battled it out in the sixties! The 300C seems a surprising choice for a race car; they are rather heavy.

No more so than any other car in the series. They are all big cars. I think the Jag weighs more.
