I’ll be there! Not scrutineering at the distillery this year, no public welcome either.
Something that was landed on the (volunteer) organising team at short notice and outside our control. It's taken a lot of work and negotiation to find somewhere else and still allow the rally to go ahead. A full time drive is long overdue. If he was Finnish or French, then I'm sure he'd have had one by now....
As for Evans, well what can you say? A fabulous drive, probably his best ever, and in Finland as well. The WRC title is still a long shot but who knows. If only we had another round, as well as Catalunya & Monza; say, a British round in the forests - but that boat has long sailed.....

Think the accelerator has evolved in to a two position switch - idle/flat
How anyone finds that ‘dull’ is completely beyond me. Lot of people with rose tinted spectacles in the world, when in fact rallying used to be a lot worse as half the cars retired.
3-4 drivers separated by less than 30 seconds going into the final day. What’s not to like?

We don’t need a British round to be honest. It’s not a major sport over here like it is in Europe. Maybe Ireland, but certainly not Wales/England anymore sadly. As for Evans, well what can you say? I think we do, if we want it to become a major sport again.McRae and Burns made it so in the 1990's, and the RAC rally was a major sporting event before that.Admittedly a British WRC round tucked away in the corner of Wales, with no free to air coverage would not help with making the sport big again in the UK, but maybe we can get a better location for where the rally is held.
Closed public roads are the way ahead - same as the majority of Europe.
It brings rallying to the people, it has been successful for decades in N.Ireland, Isle of Man, Jersey, Mull, Berwickshire, and more recently in Lancashire, Ceredigion, Essex, Gloucestershire/Herefordshire/Worcestershire, Argyll and in 2022 a few other counties.
Even in Finland, most of the roads used for rallying are public roads - they just happen to be unsurfaced.

Another rallying name passed the final TC RiP Jack Tordoff one of my earliest rallying memories in a Saab. https://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/business/jack-tord...
I am not sure we need a British round either, I would love to see a round in Ireland again, or even the Isle of Man, that would be amazing.
But the old Wales Rally was awful, I get why it got that way in the end, but a proper Rally GB it certainly was not, but that is not how events are these days, but if they can do a job for the Safari, then why not the GB rally make a proper return too, the Monet still keeps its identity.
But by choice I would do the Ypres over any GB round in our winter, having done it a few times it is not much fun.

what like a rally that traverses the country essentially?? rasta, yes that is exactly what the old Lombard RAC used to do, Wales, Scotland, Yorkshire, Lakes, Kielder, it had it all.
That is not so easy now with the cost cutting central servicing etc, so it is not likely to come back sadly, hence we had a Rally GB that was essentially only based in Wales, hence also why they took over the name and promotion.
Glad for Breen, he deserves a full time ride far more than some! And at Ford they can build the car around him instead of being a sort of driving a car built around Neuville, Ogier, Tanak essentially as he has been for years.
