Does your cousin own a 500 or a 625? Struggling to tell from that shot. Who's the chap who races one in historics? Alexander Bosworth or something of that kind...I forget easily.
Sadly I don't know anyone who owns a 412P or a 330P4...
Alexander Boswell. Sadly I don't know anyone who owns a 412P or a 330P4...
I believe it's a 500/625 hybrid. I need to get in touch with him. I'll see if Garlick wants an article writing...

Also - can't find any colour photos of Hawthorn 1953 in my books, nor a reference to BRG but I'll keep looking over the weekend. Certainly 500s were raced in yellow and blue in period, though I couldn't be certain they were works entries.

Is it meant to look like that? Has the FL wheel had been placed on the other side just to confuse people? What does the caption say?Someone on TNF said:
Ken Reece built this Chevy powered lightweight Supermodified in 1979. It had 4 wheels as per the rules - but 3 of them were on the right and just 1 on the left! The left wheel and the right middle wheel were the driven wheels and the right front and right rear wheels steered in opposite directions to turn the car.
It was tested by Tim Richmond (Indy 500 Rookie of the Year in 1980) and ran pretty well, posting faster than expected lap times. Unfortunately, it was banned before its first scheduled race at Oswego New York, despite the sanctioning body having initially told Reece that the car would be legal. Sadly, but understandably, Reece waas so incensed he cut the car up - so, unlike Smokey's creation, we will never see this outrageous machine at Goodwood.
