^^ As is pretty much every level of motorsport.
There are some very good club racers that should be in better formulae but aren't purely because they haven't got the cash.
Indeed Roo, and hasn't it always been the same.....not saying that there are exceptions and in the case of Senna he was a one off, but none the less he gave so much back to Brazil, cause he knew the dept he owed it...frankly Schumy i cant imaging would suggest that F1 is worse now cause of it...i mean would for example Ralf of got anywhere near an F1 car were it not for his big bro? There are some very good club racers that should be in better formulae but aren't purely because they haven't got the cash.

Nope definitely oil money. MS is basically saying that it's not the best drivers in the world anymore, it's the best drivers in the world who ALSO have sufficient backing. Even Max Chilton alluded to the same in his interveiw at Singapore.
Is thias the same Max Chilton whose brother Tom races for Ford Aon team?Oh whose Dad is none other than Aon CEO....oh..errmm, hang on, Tom drivers for Daddys team? Oh, did Daddy buy Tom a team so he can be a racing driver!! wow so glad Max can stand in judgement on these drivers with backing who arent the best in the world but just very lucky and pampered....hmmm glad he and Tom arent like that......

Yes that's the same Chilton, no he wasn't passing judgement he was just reiterating the point that we all know, ie. that it's bloody expensive AND you need talent.
Jealous much?

How can you be so angry at an Internet thread??
I think he was talking about oil money, whilst ignoring the fact that there's good for the bad. People sometimes do that. The end.
If Schumy is talking about 'Oil' as something in F1 that irritates him, he may want to remember that Petronas (Oil company) help to pay some of Schumys 16 million a year pay packet....Ok for a bloke on his way out of the sport (again) to start critising where the funds come from for drivers on the grid nowadays...maybe he should spend more time learning how to brake properly then talking s

To answer decadence non-insultingly, of course I didn't speak to him. I suggested that despite Petronas' influence, he was still having a pop at the 'oil money' drivers, in the way that people often ignore the good in favour of the bad.
I really can't make it any more simple than that so apologies if you still feel its a meaningless comment. Ironically, I was somewhat agreeing with you despite your fury.
Also, 'pleb' is short for 'plebeian', or someone of a lower order, class-wise. I'm not sure I see the contextual relevance...

It refers to tyres, off course. Have similar importance in F1 as oil in the real world.
While I can see why people have come to this conclusion, as Shui has complained about the tyres this year, I don't ever recall tyres being referred to as black gold before, whereas oil has been quite commonly for a long time. My guess is that Scui doesn't like the fact that GP races are now held in oil rich countires on uninteresting tracks and where motorsport has little heritage or interest.Tony2or4 said:
In the current (Oct 2012) issue of F1 Racing magazine, there's an interview with Schumacher. Asked whether anything in F1 today irritates him, he replies "Black gold. Think about it."
Anybody got any ideas?
Plenty of ideas but nobody, especially in this thread, seems to have the answer!Anybody got any ideas?
Perhaps worth sending F1 Racing an email for their thought.
