Well prepared car and happy committed team, consistent drivers, ability to sleep for 10 mins and wake up totally refreshed, (this little trick is only known to the over 55's who tend to cat nap or sofa sleep as a matter of course) hehe good food and drink supply, team members and drivers who know when to take a break, no macho bullst, good supply of cigars, perfect pit stop timing, no infringements, wife or girlfriend on the ears telling you how bloody marvelous you are, and finally, the unshakable belief that you will finish, and as that's the case you may as well finish first driving
As a 1st timer at the 24hr this is the best advice I seen.

It is going up on the garage wall smile
In print at last, another lifetime ambition fulfilled, I'm truly honoured smokin

To see this strategy in practise, visit garage 2c hehe
Hope to have time to come and see you but the way it's been going this year I somehow don't expect to have time. But then Maybe smile

Not so hasty with the predictions, you lot; there'a been a late entry - a very significant (and familiar) car with four very good drivers.

All will be revealed in due course.

The health and safety "jobs worth" may not like the cigar message, there again, F**K em, they don't like anything that has the slightest hint of not being PC,or against human rights, or for that matter, any activity that you haven't been on a three day course for, there is one for learning how to wipe your arse if you suffer, or get this, "think" you suffer from piles. In short they hate everything that isn't encased in bubble wrap,or had a 12 week induction course attached to it, a favourite being for care workers on how to safely maneuver an elderly gentleman's John Thomas passed the jagged shark like teeth of a trouser zipper, a 4 day residential course at £350 per day per person, you couldn't invent it could you? smokin

Oops, having a grumpy moment, don't know what set me off on this tack, anyway back to the race,

Good luck to all, and may each and every one of you, be you team, drivers ,support, officials or spectators, thoroughly enjoy the experience which when all the sums are done will cost the organisers, competitors and teams about £2.5 million to put on eek

Slightly OT but as there are a number of Britcar runners here, does anyone know where we can get some of that 'window film' with the pinholes used to cover rear windows to deflect glare. You see it used on trucks in the US and Middle-East where there is a graphic on the back, looks like solid but has pinholes which means from inside you can see out perfectly.

We had this in 2007 for Nurburgring 24hr but we bought it there.

Any other options to reduce glare in the cabin?

TIA

Maxx

Malcolm - will be good to see you. If you're stuck, we use a firm called Ambient Graphics (near Cambridge) and they have produced it for us. I've got their contact details if you need them.

Ask for Mark and let him know that I recommended him.

As a mere spectator, I'm really looking forward to the race. It's good to see so many team members and drivers on here. Good luck to everyone - can't wait.

couple of quick questions on a spectators front: based on the circuit map only the main stand appears to be open, is this going to be the case, cos was like that in 08 meaning no raised viewing in the final complex or around copse which is a shame! Plus the timing screen in the complex never works and if the right side of the pit straight stand is shut you cant see the one above racecontrol, meaning once stops start you dont know whos where frown Also last year at the 500 the marshals allowed people onto the grid before the race, will that be happening again this year, if not any way of getting on there ;-) literally cant wait only a week away now!!! smile

Grid walk is open to all, it will probably be very busy but it'll be fun having so many on the grid, make sure oyu get to the gates in the GP paddock between garages 6 and 7 where the bridge used to be, in plenty of time.

Grandstands officially open are Woodcote and Pits Straight and the SRC club stand. There is plenty of viewing around the rest of the circuit from the banks on the inside and outside, especially good at night to head down to Stowe.
