How on earth will power to weight ratio be policed? Are they going to ask for dyno plots of each car?! Its a nice idea but it doesn't seem the most practical way to measure the cars performance...

The power to weight thing. Its going to be difficult to police. This was the main reason we went for the 996 GT3 Cup as the rules must have been drawn up with this car in mind.

The 996 GT3 Cup will run with 400 safe bhp re-worked dampers (this is the area where the exsting cup car can be improved) gearbox ratios changed for 4th 5th and 6th and will not need a fuel stop for a 75 minute race.

So all in all if we can drive it quick we have a quick GT car. I would love to see the Lotus, Morgan, Marcos, TVR, BMW etc so please do not be put of by the 996 as we may on paper have a very fast race car but we still have to drive it ??????????

GrahamG said: The draft regs I saw at least made a stab at equalisation - the formula puts a maximum poewer to weight ratio for the Cup cars so I'd guess an Elise wouldn't be as outclassed as you might think.

Have you been in contact with the new Championship co-ordinator Belinda Edwards?

Nope, new name to me, however, I must have registered my interest at least 4 times in the last 6 months and got zero back!

As for power to weight, nice idea, but I can't see any way of sencibly policing it.

And even ignoring this, I currently run a higher figure than this and, even with a higher power to weight than a std GT3 cup car, I am some 5-6 sec's a lap and 10+ mph slower (round Silverstone int cct).

Even with the best driver in the world, that's a shed load to make up.

Simon,

I looked to run and Elise Sport but I had an idea that the rules would suit the GT3 cup cars. I will be unhappy if my car will not lap Snetterton in the low 10's after the mod's and when it rains we have ABS we then go hunting the GTO's.

The only way to make this new class fair would be to run success ballest.

I think this year they will suck it an see and make changes for 2004, but a quick driver in a GT3 Cup car with the mod's will upset a few GTO teams.

I own an Exige so please bring out the Lotus I still think you will upset some bigger engined cars.

Nice idea, but I am not prepared to put in the time and money without a realistic chance of running at or very close to the class pace, what's the point?

You have clearly picked the car for the class and I wish you well with it.

No Listers in the British GT's this year, because of the way the new regulations and classes are Laurence Pierce effectiely withdrew his cars from the national championship at the end of last year and the team will concentrate on the FIA GT's and the new LMP.

I feel that the BRDC hav made the same mistake as the government did with the 'new' a'level system, released all the regs and 'need to know' information far too late shafting alot of people.

rules and regs need to be black and white not grey and frilly.

-The ex-Ohana car will be racing in the British GT's this year.
