:J: the anglia of gordan streeter was involved in the peter wheeler incident at the a1gp. however i think it was more the fault of the driver of the db5 than gordan.
i didnt see the accident with your dad so cant comment, but can only assume that from the damage that one of the cars was spinning, or at the least very sideways at the point of contact.
whilst not sticking up for gordan, or wishing to insult your dad, its very hard to aportion blame, sure the blue flags will be out, but us slower, smaller cars have been told that we should maintain our track position (i.e our racing line) and the faster cars should make their way past us, so if needs be they should slow down or move off the line to allow for us.
obviously, this works fine on paper, but i find that its best to sometimes move off line to allow the cars to pass, this depends a lot of the bend, and the driver, some of the drivers of the larger cars are very aggessive and want to be past no matter what, yet some of them, andy rouse in particular, will see a smaller car, and wait until he knows he has been seen, if needs be wait a bend or two, before comming past.
i guess it was just a racing accident, not a good one for your dad i'd agree, but if the coc had thought the driving standards where in any doubt the drivers would have been called up!
I was told the accident happened as the Anglia just turned in on the Aston as they were alongside each other, at which point they could have continued, but unfortunately the Anglia went into a spin and even though full on the brakes, dad could do nothing but collect him i didnt see the accident with your dad so cant comment, but can only assume that from the damage that one of the cars was spinning, or at the least very sideways at the point of contact.

I heard the coc had made a point of saying about the slower cars being too slow to race with the quicker cars as their closing speeds are too high (up to 70mph). Don't know if any truth in it though ?
From the fence, a racing incident, from my selfish point of view, it ruined my Sunday

dont know about this, but this will always be a problem with mixed grids.i think if hgtcc was only open to fast cars of equal standing there would only be 5-10 cars on the grid, so in order to keep up the grids and the crowds enjoyment there is the neccesary evil of allowing other stuff in!
i think the top 5 cars will lap the other stuff a couple of times in a race
the other problem is the big stuff is faster on the straights, but round the corners its the smaller, lighter cars that hold all the cards - i was able to hold the mustang of richard cooke for about five laps until our rythem of him getting me on the straights, me claiming it back on the bends was interupted by the blue flags of lapping faster cars!
i personally dont have a problem with the bigger faster cars, once you have a measure of the drivers (and they of you) its possible to have some good battles. for example, chris scragg is always really good value, he will overtake me into the corners, i always tuck behind him and 'push' him round the bend until he can wind the power back on and pull away at a furious speed - great fun! - i got him twice with this move last weekend, occasionaly he will 'tap' the brakes in an attempt to shake me off, but normally he just puts up with it!
