Don't get me wrong, I'm a Button fan through and through and was delighted with his win in Hungary. That said, I thought his post race interview in Turkey was appaling and gave the team no credit whatsoever. To say they have a huge amount to make up on Ferrari and Renault was glass 99% empty to say the least. To come home 12 seconds behind the leader and only 6 seconds behind Schumacher and Alonso after a one and a half hour race is a huge step forward for the team from where they were 6 weeks ago. Yes, they need to make up a couple of tenths a lap before they are competing for the lead, but go back a few races and it was seconds they needed to make up.

Sorry Jens but your team deserve better.

I think he just says "i couldn't have driven the car any faster"

Which is very often true.

but yes, Honda have made good progress but the car still wasn't that great.

Agreed. I guess I motivate my staff with somewhere around 80% encouragement, 20% criticism. Jens has the 80/20 the other way around.

one of the things i dont like about Jensen is that he's quick to blame the car for poor performance...

If he genuinely believes he and the team have got everything out of the car that they are able to, what else can he say? His comments in the post-race interview today seemed to me to pretty accurately explain the situation he and the team are in.

BTW, his name is spelt Jenson.

If Shackleton had spent his time telling his crew the depth of the sh*t they were in, their bodies would still be scattered all over the South Atlantic today. Instead he motivated them by looking at how far they'd dug so far, and which bit to dig next.

I agree that the team need honest feedback on which areas to improve - we all do, otherwise we don't know how to perform better. But nobody is motivated by continually being told how badly they are doing.

In the interview he talked about the car lacking "in one area" but wouldn't say what. Since Honda and Renault are on the same tyres, he could only have meant the Honda motor (which i thought was one of the best) or aerodynamics/flexible wings. I'm assuming the latter...

In a later interview he talked about lacking straight line speed (and was also, to be fair, a bit more upbeat). Probably means either too little power or too much downforce needed for the corners.
