Is anyone else getting sick of Hamilton's whining?

Irrespective of whether what Alonso did re Stepneygate was right or wrong, Alonso (and Ron) is handling himself with great dignity in his comments to the press.

Hamilton just makes me want to cringe with his countless digs at Alonso and his "aren't I great" comments. It's as if he has some massive inferiority complex or something. These seem distinctly at odds with the equality between the drivers that McLaren promote.

One only has to look at any of the comments he has said on Pitpass or Planet F1 - some reent examples:

"I'd much rather it were Fernando in a Ferrari and me in a McLaren," the 22-year-old Brit said.

"And since what's gone on in the last few weeks they've realised who the real people are in the team and who they really should back."

Hamilton's petulence in the post race press conference when it was suggested that he was taking the blame for the incident with Kubica was also embarrassing to watch.

I am a long time Ferrari fan, but part of me is now wishing that Alonso will take the title and put this whippersnapper in his place!

Back in the day, my friends used to criticise my fondness of Eddie Irvine, who they thought was arrogant. Eddie was humourous, and most of his comments were said tongue in cheek, and yet lots of people disliked him because of his attitude.

I wonder what those same people's view of Hamilton will be in a few years time?

PS - Has anyone else tried the "Lewis Hamilton Drinking Game"? You must take a swig of your drink each time "Lewis Hamilton" is mentioned on the ITV F1 coverage. Trust me - you will only play it once ; )

Possibly not. But I would try to show humilty and have a measure of self deprecation in my comments.

Especially when winning races in a "cheating" car ; )

Seriously though, imagine how big headed he will be next year if he wins!

No.

I am not denying he is a good driver though.

ITV's coverage has gone a long way to add to my dislike of Hamilton.

I was kidding about the "cheating" car.

It will be great to have a Brit win the championship.

Someone said Mansell took 12 years to win the title. That is probably because he had to work hard and sell his house to help fund his racing driver - not be groomed by McLaren since he was 13 and then be gifted with the best car on the grid in his debut season.

I'm not bitter, just bored of his arrogance and attitude (as, it seems, you guys are of mine). His place of birth has no bearing on my feelings.

I didn't realise the support Alonson has - enough to even make a GTV driver call me pathetic ; )

Hopefully he will lighten up over time.

And let us not forget Jacques Villeneuve's debut season.

Pole in his first race, and Lewis has only now matched his 4 wins in his debut season.

ITV have mentioned JV only once all season as a successful rookie.

Agreed.

I will try to mentally tune out of ITV's commentary in the next few races(especially Steve Rider and James Allan) and revisit my impression of Hamilton.

Nope - I was over the moon when Jenson won last year, and I am a big fan of James Hunt, Nige, Davidson and Coulthard.

Are you another one of those Englishmen with a narrow minded view of Scots?

I didn't realise Murray said that and apologise on behalf of a nation.

Yeah, but he is still a tool.

His antics at the safety car restart yesterday are a perfect case in point. Imagine the outrage if Alonso had hit him (he was lucky he didn't with that "gamesmanship&quotwink.

Apologies for speaking my mind guys (a trait some of you admire in Hamilton), it's clear many of you don't feel the same way.

Looks like we'll have to agree to disagree.

And mojocvh, can you lend me your stick after you have removed it from yourself ; )

Following that argument (which I agree is tenuous), the Ferraris have only Ferrari data in their cars, whilst it could be argued that McLarens have both their own data and Ferrari data in their cars. This extra knowledge, and input from more engineers could make the McLarens better.

However, it looks pretty unlikely that there is any Ferrari info on the McLaren cars.

He is a good driver.

It's his personality traits I don't particularly care for.

I watched the old Duke video "Champion - Hunt" last night about James Hunt.

Now, there is a way to express yourself in a dignified, self deprecating manner - there was nothing boastful about James.

Morning Guys

I've made a few digs at Hamilton in previous posts, but it is a great shame his race ended that way. He must be devastated.

I appreciated the way he dealt with his mechanics after the incident too.
