Does anyone run their own cars in the series, or is it all teams and arrive and drive?

What's a realistic budget these days for a one-off race and a whole season?

Hey Ed.....are you going to give it a try!!!!!!

I'm thinking about it!

Been racing my Westfield for a while now, and have always wanted to race a Tuscan.

I do however like Westfield type budgets, and wouldn't want to chuck huge amounts of cash at this, so would want to do this on a budget.

How realistic would it be to buy a car and run it myself, probably with 2nd hand slicks as well for the time being?

As a question to you chaps.

Is the only source of funding for your racing from sponsors and one's own funds?

In my case, it's 100% from my own funds.

Basically it costs the driver a fortune to race and everyone but the driver makes money...

Yep!

It depends how competitive you want to be.

Then I found myself going for top 10 finishes and suddenly found myself writing large cheques to Mr Dunlop. Every weekend

I wouldn't expect to be going for wins, but on the other hand I wouldn't do it just to finish at the back of the grid, so I'd be happy with aiming at finishing in the top 10.

It'll be quite a budget jump from kits though, where I'm still making do with a set of tyres that have been on the car for about 3 years, and have done probably 2 seasons of racing!

Amazingly, they still seem to be OK, so they'll be staying on there until they're down to the canvas
