I'm sure I saw that very car overtake the silver 911!

I passed a silver 996 parked on the gravel layby on the 543. Then I came up behind a blue mk5 R32 taking it very easy, driver gave an indicator for me to overtake, always appreciated, thanks. This was around the same time some Minis and Porsches passed in the opposite direction. On the way back along the A5 a convoy of about 20 more classic Minis passed in the opposite direction.

Very vigilant with the headless driver btw! hehe

waveyWere you driving an Elise by any chance?

BTW, the driver of the R32 wasn't taking it easy. He was fully commited to the roadbiggrin

The R32 driver was going slow as he was running of petrol. The 996 driver had run out of fuel.

No, 'thePickle' was driving a Red MK5 Golf GTi (DSG I would guess). Made a nice pop on the upchange. smile

thumbup Seems like I caught up with the R32 at just the wrong moment, shame. I think it was stuck behind a Micra (?) doing 35-40mph so when it didn't overtake at the first opportunity I came by and went on my way. Manual btw.

By the time you turned up, we'd had our fun and I was waiting for the 911 to catch up. If you'd turned up 20 mins earlier we could have spent some time sorting out the age old GTi v R32 argument. wink

GTi sounded good btw.

Certainly not in the R32 league for nice sounds! Re gti vs R32, I’m not sure I would have fancied my chances, particularly in those damp conditions, would have been fun though.

I've driven a few GTis. I thought they were splendid. You are right about the conditions - quite yuck. Definately made my mate in the Carrera more cautious. But what a splendid section of road. Didn't like the foresty bit - one thinks you'd have to be well into 3 figures there to be having much fun!

I did a couple of laps today thumbup Spotted a red mx5 a few times doing the route in the opposite direction to me, exchanged flashes the third time we passed each other. Someone from here maybe? I was driving an 06 plate red mk5 golf gti.
How wierd. That was me and Kitty_Kat in the MX5. I wondered at the time if it was someone from here. Bizzare.

You've got a good memory there!! November 2006! It is a bit strange, but I think if you spot someone there who is obviously there for the roads, there's quite a good chance they'll be on here, as some of the threads on here have shown thumbup

Did the triangle today in, wait for it, a Disco TD5 biggrin

Was great fun, it's surprisingly chuckable round the bends. Had to do it more than once, so we ended up doing it 3 times. Saw a 911 going the other way a few times, was that anyone on here?
