An interesting comment my learned, government working unlce passed on to me was that in northern ireland, the road fund licence was spent, 100% on the roads. (surface, danger spots etc) They were super, in comarison to the rest of the uk and south of ireland. Alas some nutsack in the council decided that the money needed to pass through the government coffers, our roads have gone to st.

some really are bad over here now, i have replaced two 18inch rs6 alloys on the (290 quid!) as the buckled and split the tire!

I think its safe to conclude that most of the British Isles roads are in a shocking state of repair and the government is not spend our motoring taxes on road maintenance and renewal, WHY mad

Just posted on the Scotland area - A82 -responsibility of HA (or Scottish equivalent ) ---un less they hurry ,most of it will be lying at side of road .But moves are afoot to shout for an upgrade .

The A23 from Brighton to London has appalling potholes on the Handcross hill section. So bad my wife hit one at 50mph instant blow out of tyre and buckled BBS split rim cost £700 quid to fix. Highways agency deny responsibility. Does anyone on here know of a genuine lawyer who specialises in this sort of thing?

Hideous road this is, on the way back to brighton took the MCoupe over these potholes down handcross hill. First time on the KW's and it felt like i had grounded the car the amount of clatter it made.

Shocking road.

Spent the week before last driving around up there and understand what you mean but, to be fair, considering most of it (the A82) is single lane carrigeway and allowing for the HGV's and that most of it is alongside the shores of various lochs, I think they keep it in very good nick. I saw the signs appealing for it to be upgraded and have to agree.

As a sort of 'anti-bh' about the roads, I loved the little single track road up into glen nevis, like a bloody roller coaster, but so much fun even at 20 mph in a mondeo... going back in the kit car later in the year for a 'proper' go on that one.

Have a look at the other end of Fort William ,from the roundabout just south of the police station --Lundavra road ---goes way up into the hills and it's like the Glen Nevis road . Then north of the A830 /A82 junction ---signed to Happy Valley . Also The back road (off the A830 ) to Spean Bridge --and numerous other sideshoots . And if you go up the Mallaig road (A830) ,take the old road into Morar --the Bracara road is also a bit of fun - carefull though -it's runs nest to the loch ---and for a hill climb - carry on into Mallaig, follow the road round the bay ,at top of hill bear right then left ,go past the two sort of prefab houses and you've got a hill .
