Unless there was another passing place between you I doubt the people you're talking about were locals. They tend to use skilful judgement and use the passing places without stopping. It's great to watch the locals do this when they meet each other, and I usually get the hang of it after a couple of days.

..who have a different agenda! (Mostly, get to the fish farm quick, or get the sack).

Locals do understandably drive much better than visitors, as we do it all year round, year on year, and know the place like the back of our hand, and yes, we almost never need to stop as we judge the distance to the next passing place and time it perfectly...

...some of us are still st mind.

Just don't take on a postie!

I'll second that.

When I was there in 2016 the blind overtake the postie performed past me was unbelievable. He'd be in some bother if he met someone coming the other way with the same outlook.

Well. Here We go, to say I’m excited is an understatement. Tomorrow I hit the old military road then over to applecross.

If you see a red Cayman, wave! wavey

Exactly 3 more weeks to wait for me. At this time I should be en route and finishing lunch on the border of Co. Durham/Northumberland.

We had a great drive out yesterday, just did a loop of the A861 only thing to watch out for are locals in the single track bits who don’t like to slow down or give way

Plan was to get ferry back across to Fort William but we were enjoying the road we carried on.

Today onwards to Avimore and the old military road
I could have waved to you from across the other side (I live there)

No, not me I’m afraid, that’s tomorrow. I’m currently at the Torrindon inn. Relaxing after a brilliant days drive. Had the old military road in the morning all to myself for a good hoon and then a much more restrained affair on these single track roads. Being in a low car makes every hill crest a slightly twitchy moment.

Did I see you Mr Carter in a white disco? Plate ending CAM?

We headed up to Skye today and it was brilliant
The roads were empty and the weather was excellent. We’ve covered 1250 miles since we arrived and had a blast. Friday is a down day for us as we are on the Jacobite stream train then Saturday we head home 😪 but already got ideas for next year and maybe come up for like longer

Not me I'm afraid. There's a new chef in the Torridon Inn - what was the grub like?

I assume that's your bright red porker in the corner of the courtyard? (I saw it as I passed this morning)

Yeah that’s mine tucked away in the corner. She’d be a bit brighter but is absolutely filthy and covered in road salt/grime biggrin, has been great so far this trip, I was worried it would get tiring on a longer drive but not the case.

The food was very good, we both had the burger so not hard to get wrong, then proceeded to tease the girlfriend about her eating one of the cute “fluffy cows” outside. She’s still a little mad at me.

We’ve had some great weather, looks like today might be a bit changeable though. I’d quite like to see Kylesku bridge in the sun, but we’ll see.
