The A4061 and A4107 meet on top of a mountain at the end of the Ogmore Valley. Go in any direction from that junction and you'll find cracking roads.

I love wales. Guess we should all share the wales love :P

Here are a couple of photos from August bank holiday 2007. (possibly worst day ever for travel, took 5 hours to get to the hotel near Conwy from B'ham!) as you would expect, traffic in certain areas was pretty congested. All the main roads in particular.

This is the start of the Llanberis Pass. A truely spectacular bit of road. We caught it during bad traffic especially on the way down again, but it was still awesome.

This is the B4407 to Ffestiniog, and a part of the 'triangle' i think. It was foggy when we went, really foggy, so pulled over for a half hour. It is narrow to begin with, and with a fair few hedges to contend with round narrow tightening bends, but as you climb and start to close in on the junction for ffestiniog the road widens and weaves its way round the hills. fantastic.

After this i'd seriously consider taking the B4391 towards Bala, then the B4501 towards Denbigh.

I love it so much that i went driving there at 1am smile

Oh, and have some more pics if you need inspiration. This was a sunny October!

Triangle:

A4086:

B4407, which initially seems rubbish, but bear with it. Leads to the B4391

Last time on the triangle:

Yeah...doesn’t start so good, I’m not a fan of the narrow sections

Thankfully it widens out a bit later on...

I have to say im quite amazed to find how many people come to wales to drive on the B4391, but the thing that gets me is that I live in Ffestiniog, and yet I never see any sports cars coming through the village. So I've been wondering, do you all actually come through the village, or just turn around to go on the road again? because if its one thing I'd like to see most is some real sports cars come through here.

Drove these roads at the weekend whilst getting to the WRC and would highly recommend them. Had a couple brown pant moments on black ice but the rest of it was great fun with a few sweeping bends and sharp hairpins biggrin

I was up there for Rally GB as well and did those roads again in a Vito Sport-X. Awesome fun, but watch the bumps...

A4069 is best road in uk imho, needs to be driven west to east (starting nr bethlehem).
The Black Mountain road! How do people reckon it compares to North Wales?

It is a seriously good drive, but I'm not sure about the best in the UK - beautifully twisty and quite varied, but the lower bit in the trees isn't as well sighted as it could be in places and the upper section on the moorland has some evil bumps and cambers.

Don't get me wrong, it is one of the best roads I've ever driven, but I can imagine North Wales or The Highlands would give it a good run for its money. Personally I preferred the B4235 (heading down into Chepstow) although some of that was probably due to a particularly memorable drive as much as the road itself.

Will be up on the A4069 this weekend. Not going to be rushing along it this time as ive go time to spare so will be good to explore some of the countryside around it by foot.

I have gone off the 4069. Crap surfaces, not great hooning, busy. Great scenery tho. The best hooning bit is after the mountain to llandadog. I have left some skidmarks on the hairpin wink
The gem of the welsh roads for me is the b4520. I have driven this regularly and has everything. Amazing scenery, mountain bits, quiet smooth twistys, really good visibility and overtaking opps, not that you need em as its soo quiet. Plenty of opportunity to get some air on the mountain bit. It really entices you to drive quick. A real satisfying one with everything you want from a hoon. Never done the evo triangle, but this single road is as long.
The chepstow to usk road is very nice as well, the b4325 i think.
Another discovery is the a483. Busyish but a good road to connect from the b4520 to the a4069, with no filth or cameras.
Some jaw dropping scenery.
try the b4520 if you havent.

thumbup A great find, this thread! I'm organising a long weekend up to Snowdonia in early July for my local car club; we're staying just outside Bala. I went up there a couple of weekends ago to do a reccy and found some great roads, but I will be checking out all your suggestions on the map when I get home.
