Hi Andrew . . . I had said to the guys that we should let you know and you may be able to come and say hi, would be good to catch up again.

We can swap cars for the day, I know you still miss your Griffith and yours is my dream car, seems fair to exchange for a few miles hehe
Hi Johno - would definately like to meet up so let me know how the plan turns out and I will make arrangements! This swapping cars idea doesn't sound so good though tongue out

Hi Rainer

Been a long time since we met . .. It was the '06 hoon down to Italy I think . . . I was co-driving with Ted then in the Cerberra.

I'll let you both know when we're in the region and it would be good to meet up.

Hi Johno, Excuse me barging in on your post but I am trying to plan a route to alps myself for late june 09 and you certainly seem to know your way around europe! Would you be able to let me know the best route to the nurburgring, the twisty cross country one. I do have a tomtom if its easier that way. Regards Tim

Hi Tim . . . The route to the Ring is from http://www.nurburgring.org.uk/ . . .. There's a couple of others on there as well.

If you drop me an PM then I'll send you the .ITN file that you can load in to your Tomtom with the waypoints etc already planned.

Col de la Faucille is great (if you get a run clear of shed-draggers, coaches etc, but a real bore if you get caught in traffic). Variations on this part of the journey would be:
1) Autoroute from Geneva to Nyon, N90 to La Cure and back to N5 - narrower and more traffic free than la Faucille, and quite pretty.
2) Autoroute Geneva - Lausanne - Vallorbe. Fill up with cheap swiss petrol at BP station 25metres from border post. D9/D107/D471 to Champagnole, N5 to Poligny and then hit the autoroute. I have driven this many times and whilst not full of hairpins like La Faucille, it is a challenging full-blooded drive with lots of fairly quick bends. Ferrari-driving pals have also given this route top marks on their way back from the Alps.
3) Combine the Col (or variation 1) with no. 2 and take the D415 and N79 from La Cure (criss-crossing the border) along the Vallee de Joux (quickish straight road) to Vallorbe

PM me if you would like more info on this part of the world.

Sortie10, have made some changes to go from Faucille to Valorbe via the 415, then then D9, D471, N5 to Poligny onto the autoroute.

looking forward to it.

Thanks
