Dark Peaks routes?
Discussion
Has anyone got any suggestions for a route around the dark (north) peaks? Never been that impressed with the mid section (Hope Valley, Castleton etc), it's not feasible to hit the Highlands every weekend so looking for something closer to home.
I'm not a million miles from Sheffield and was thinking of taking the Snake Pass up to Glossop, and then up to Holme Moss but unsure of the best route from there.
I've had a look on Google Maps and it seems like I should be aiming for Marsden, Meltham, Scammonden Water etc?
Something like this I guess - https://goo.gl/maps/3YgcD
Hoping to get out Sunday if it's dry, what are these roads like on a weekend? Busy, cameras?
Thanks in advance.

Not a bad choice of route. Some sections are better in the opposite direction so worth doing the route in reverse another time. Greenfield to Holme is more interesting than the way you have it... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8HVVK6l0-c
You could continue past Langsett 1mile and then turn right for Midhopestones and continue via Strines back to Ladybower.

Great road across the Pennines. Far better than the A628 via Woodhead. The A635 has an unfortunate claim to fame as it's the route used by Brady and Hindley to reach Saddleworth Moor where the bodies were buried.
Thanks guys, looking forward to giving them a whirl tomorrow. I'll probably get as far as Meltham and then do it in reverse to experience it in both directions.
Shouldn't be too much traffic on the roads at 7am. I find with winter approaching, you can't hit things as early without sacrificing light / road conditions.
Done the Langsett > Ladybower bit before but found it didn't really suit a lowered Z4!
