The last two MOTs in the Clio have been fairly expensive. In 2022 the rear calliper was binding which meant new rear discs, pads and a drivers side calliper (this was shortly after breaking a coil spring, so I'd only just replaced the suspension with B14s). In 2023 the "new" calliper had failed, the garage refused warranty, and then I broke the hard line getting the old one off. Which was a pain.

Thankfully, this year I've had a nice easy pass:

Time to go track day shopping!

Excellent news, all the money you didn't spend on getting it through the MOT (a number you can stretch to suit your needs....) can now be spent on upgrades!

With the Legacy now off to a new home the clio needs to do some daily work.
Which didn't start well.
I stopped for fuel, and it refused to start. Turned over fine, immobilizer seemed ok. Sitting on the fuel station forecourt with a crowd of curious on lookers i opened the bonnet and the issue was obvious. The fuel hose clip had cine undone. Plugged it back in and the car started perfectly. Gave it a gentle nudge and it sprayed fuel all over the engine (and me).

It must be protesting that you are not doing enough track days with it smile

Hope you get it sorted .

So new connector from Ktech ordered, but a bodge for now.

Hopefully my next post won't be from the side of the A14 waiting for a fire crew.

So a fluid, bolt and brake check, plus engine oil change and we're good for a trackday.
The now customary cursing and promising myself I'll never over tighten an oil filter again was fun, as was the traditional mess the old filter left down the front of the engine:

Anyway everything else is looking good, brakes have lots of life and no smear of pickup, so I'm looking forward to an evening at snetterton!

That’s a familiar sounding promise…. Is the oil filter a particular pig to get at on the Clio?

I’m glad all looks well otherwise though, enjoy the evening at Snetterton, especially the infield section I’m guessing!

The oil filter is a pain, it's under the fuel rail protector at the front of the engine, surrounded by wires. So as soon as you unscrew it oil pours down the block and over the sump.
My level of frustration was not helped by misplacing my oil filter wrench, then dropping various things into the bucket of old oil!

Having been fishing around the bucket it's good to see that there was close to 5L in the engine, so almost no oil lost/consumed since I last did this. The new oil is Elf SXR900, A3/B4. No more C3 for this clio!

Snetterton isn't the most exciting track, but Riches, Hamilton, and Brundle through the Bomb hole are all good fun. I'm hoping my 16 year old will join me and catch the bug!

That does sound like a colossal pain in the arse, all made easier by everything being covered in oil of course.... As you say, at least it's not using any!

I love bits of Snetterton, mostly round the outside of things at Corams before seeing hour much excess speed you didn't realise you were carrying, you then have to get around the left at the end.... hehe

My fault for turning up to a power track on a 400 I guess!

I hope your 16yo has a whale of a time!

Well, despite the wet weather and being one of the slowest cars out there, my son did have a whale of a time.
In his own words. "I'm going to delay having children so I can get some nice cars".
We'll see how that goes

Anyway, the clio ran really well, apart from some overheating on the brakes. I suspect I wasn't giving the car enough time to cool down in my eagerness to get out when it wasn't raining.

Sounds like a good track day and a good result from your offspring too. Top parenting!
I've always felt slow at Snetterton because of the lengths of the straights, but the fun on the corners usually makes up for it!

I see what you now mean about the constant oil leaks that you are battling!
Looks like a great bit of fun, with some annoying components that have become consumables.

Might be worth trying the wheel cleaner i've used, mentioned it somewhere within my thread. Suspect that'll remove it.

It's going to AW at the end of the month for various seal replacements. It'll be leak free for a while then!

And for no particular reason, here's a good picture from Tuesday.
