Volvo 850 (855) T5 GLT Estate
Discussion
Man after my own heart you are!
I have a 1996 T5 GLT estate for work, to complement the Jag. Great minds think alike etc.
Enjoy it mate. And just one little tip - poly wishbone bushes and a poly top engine mount are very worthy mods on these if you drive anything like I do
I've recently got to thinking that a second complete front subframe and running gear is going in the back of mine when I replace it with a van for work

Hi Guys
I have just bought one of my all time favourite cars - a Volvo 850 T5 estate.
I have long lusted after one of these from the days of Lammers and Rydell, and they represent amazing value now. Great performance, amazing sound, lots of creature comforts, a big boot, and fantastic build quality. Mine is a 1997 car and it has no rust at all.
So, the car is a manual and drives very well indeed. There are a couple of minor bits and pieces to sort out (exhaust bracket, throttle cable, cosmetic bits), but once those are done it (hopefully) will be 100% again. I'll post up more info as my work progresses.
Many thanks to MDT and Y2blade for their help in my quest.
Turbo!

Thanks guys. I am getting the car checked over next week and I will see what needs done to it. The poly mounts are a good tip.
The exhaust does sound quite fruity - here is a video the previous owner made. I will see how I get on with it

I'd get a genuine Volvo Top Strut brace too noticed the difference on mine

Cheers guys.
I've been doing a few bits and bobs to the car over the past couple of weeks, like adding new handbrake cables, a strut brace, getting the interior valeted, a wiper arm for the back, the tracking done and a load cover.
It is going into the body shop next week to get a small bit of paintwork done, and then I'll get the air con regassed and that should be it. For now : ) It has a manual boost controller and a Cosworth actuator fitted already, and I will see where I go from here.
I will post some pics when it comes back from the bodyshop.

Thanks Guys.
As an update I have had a few minor bits and pieces done to the car - some paintwork, handbrake cables and shoes, tracking, aircon regassed and a strut brace fitted. I just need to fit a new rear wiper and motor and I should be all set.
They really are cracking cars for the money - comfortable, really practical, well put together, fast and they sound great. Also, IMHO they look great too. I will get some more pics taken when the wiper is on.
I also managed to obtain a load cover which was quite interesting (a holy grail item because of their rarity).
I had spotted the load cover on Gumtree a few days before and left a message for the seller but he didn't get back to me. Whilst I was out having afternoon tea with my wife at a swanky hotel (the Balmoral in Edinburgh) the seller texted me and asked if I still wanted it. I did, and I managed to get him to drop it off to me at the Palm Court restaurant in the Balmoral whilst we were eating our cakes. There was even a spare seat for the load cover
