The NB is a superior car - perhaps the OP realised this? Ive owned cars with pop up headlamps for the best part of twenty years, enabling me to see past this particular shiny-shiny...
I can't drive the NB. Legs don't fit between the wheel and the bigger seats. Also I can't lie - I don't much care for the gold.
What a ray of fking sunlight, eh?
I dont like that particular colour either. With regards to fitting in though: Im 6'3" and I can fit into an NB with relative ease. If I performed a foamectomy on the drivers seat then Id be able to see under the visor a little more comfortably, but I dont need it to actually fit into or drive the car.
Im going to guess that youve sat on Mk2.5 seats. Theyre higher than Mk1/Mk2 seats and I couldnt drive either an NB2, or an NB with Mk2.5 seats fitted, unless theyd been lowered in tis manner.

Thanks chaps.
The colour is most likely the reason the car was as cheap as it was as it's definitely a Marmite sorta thing- it's growing on me actually and I wasn't madly keen when I got it! A wash helped, it looked even worse filthy dirty!
I'm 6'2" and fit in comfortably although on longer journeys the seat can feel a touch upright due to the seat not being able to recline any more as it's far back on the rails. Not heard of this foamectomy but I might give it a go next weekend- drove my dad's company a4 earlier and you really get the sensation that you sit 'in' the 5 and 'on' other cars! Lots of fun
Not many plans, did an oil and cambelt change today and need to change tyres asap (currently three different brands represented ) so that's a priority before any other mods. Maybe a re-spray in the future?

Well, with the weather as it's been I thought it was perfect for a bit of topless hooning!
Furthermore, a good alignment shows just how bad the car was before. The two rear wheels were basically both pointing off to the side! Car now feels a lot more planted and turn in is more immediate. New tyres helped too!
Before and after...
Happy with it! When the car was up on the ramps the underneath seemed in remarkably good condition for the price too!

I am assuming you are putting the roof back up when storing it? If you leave the roof down for long periods of time, you will find it will be a pain to get back up, particularly in the summer as it shrinks.
It lives outside! Flat in the city centre so unfortunately no covered parking. So yes roof up unless it's being driven seany87 said:
gold mx-5
nice 5! Toying with a hardtop but then I can't quite reconcile it given I drive mostly with the roof down.MrBrightSi said:
Brother had one exactly the same, his had a black hardtop though, lovely car, shame i couldnt fit under the steering wheel, is it right that the mark 1 has an adjustable collumn?
None of them bar Mk3 have adjustable steering wheels IIRC, mine certainly doesn't but I'm 6'2 and it doesn't ever bother me!Gassing Station | Readers' Cars | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
