I picked up my 1984 Celica Supra last week and I love it! It's the 2.8i straight 6cyl model with a 5 speed manual box. I've always liked retro Japanese cars but this is the first one i've owned after it caught my eye for sale on another website.

The spec from standard is pretty impressive - it has electric windows + sunroof, LSD, IRS, digital dash, cruise control, air-con, multi adjustable seats etc. All of which works which is nice on a retro!
The condition of the paint, engine, bodywork and interior is amazing for a 25year old car, a real credit to its previous owners - with only a couple of tiny rust bubbles on the boot lid.

The car has a couple of modifications - Simota air filter and 3inch intake, full exhaust system (sounds amazing) and much lower suspension than standard (can make speedbumps a challenge) It really is a joy to drive and puts a big smile on my face every time I do!
The 2.8 lump has 168bhp/169lb/ft of torque so it goes well! Fuel consumption is a little scary after driving a series of small engined snotters but it really is worth it for how much fun it is. The interior is very very 80's but again, is in mint condtion and looks pretty much new.
Insurance is a bit of nightmare as I'm only 20 and it's a Group 20, but again, it's worth it! Enough talk anyway - have some pics...

Love the old jap rwd metal, had an ae86 and a ke20, that looks like a clean example and being a Toyota it'll be bullet proof. Best of luck with it!

Thanks very much! It only has 83,000 on the clocks as well which isn't bad for something 4 years older than me!

Totally, Totally, Boss!!!!

Always wanted one of those myself ages ago but they were just too expensive. Love the muscular stance and wide arches just aching to be filled with some really wide rubber.

My mate had one that leaked and continually had a fogged up rear window, so check inside the rear deck and under the carpet for damp.

I saw one same year smoking around where I lived a few years back. They go pretty quick!

Yours looks exceptional. Never knew they had a digidash like that!

Awesome car! I had a metallic blue one which I was going to turn into a drag car, and I got as far as building a 700hp supercharged chevy engine to put in it with TH400, jag IRS, all the good stuff. Unfortunately the damn thing was rusting away faster than I could weld it up, and bodywork is not my forte, so the car and engine were sold seperately and my hotrod dreams came to an end.

The big problems with these are rust (if yours has escaped then that is great news!) and getting tyres to fit those supercool alloys. I forget the size but they're near-obsolete, so check availability before doing any donuts or burnouts smile I was going to put huge Mickey Thompson tyres on mine so it wasn't a concern, but I remember the tyres on mine were quite badly perished.

The standard engine is a fairly heavy unit but runs sweet and smooth as anything, and the best kept secret is the seats - soooooo comfortable! I wish I still had mine, even with the standard running gear it was a brilliant car.

Thanks very much, I hadv't seen one on the road apart from this. I paid under 2grand for it which is a bargain considering the mileage and overall nearly-new condition.

Your hotrod plans sound ace, shame it didn't work out. I've heard that rust was the main killer for these. Luckily for this one, someone has taken very very good care of it, and there is no rust underneath, or under the wheel arches, only 3 tiny spots (smaller than 5p coin size and already touched up and treated)

Don;t worry there will be no donuts or drifting in this, its too mint! I know what you mean about the seats, they are sooo comfy, and the drivers side has the comedy pump up lumbar support with the suspicious hand pump! I'm happy with the lazy kind of power from the engine, it goes very well and sounds soooo good!
