I give you the latest addition to the Garlick Garage - 1990 Porsche 944S2, the book is open for guesses as to how long I will keep it.

I've only had it since Saturday, so more details to follow smile

Very nice mate. One of those is on my must own list! Slightly off topic but how are you finding the Range Rover as i am looking to pick one up myself once the mr2 is gone. How do you reckon it would cope on a european trawl?

The Rangie is expensive to run at 10-12 mpg around town, and there are bits and pieces that need attention on a car of that age. My car cost me £700 to buy, but has just cost me £576 in engine work and it still needs another part at £135 to finish 100%.

I guess that my best advice is to buy the best you can afford, and then 'shake it down' for a month at home before travelling too far. Mine had been used mostly around town during its life and the first time I took it on a M Way it lost it's water and I had to await recovery. Now the work has been done I trust it more now than ever, but I know I will spend plenty more on it in the future.

However, I absolutely love it and will use it tonight over the 944 to get home (mainly because it has working A/C) smile

Thanks for the advice Paul. I am looking at the 2.5 desiel version so hopefully wont be as painfull on the fuel costs and will make sure i have a good run round in it before we head off must also remember to make sure my breakdown cover is up to scratch too by the sounds of it.

May I be so rude to ask how much this beauty set you back?

I paid £3400 for it, with FSH (belt done 20K ago), 11 months MOT, 5 months tax and it has just had a lube service and front discs and pads too.

No rust to speak of, tyres have 5k left in them and all the electrics work. It could do with some tidying here and there, but overall it's in very (very) good shape for a 20 year old car smile

Hope its a good one, the are prone to porus cylinder heads as I found out during my short foray into 944S2 ownership, hell of a motor if its a good one.

Perhaps I do need the doctors advice hehe

Anyway, I had already passed the California e-mail to Chris in the office, but I'll chase him up tomorrow for you.

Nice.
That's one of my boyhood dream cars, and an itch I think I should scratch.

That looks like a nice example of the 944 S2, I reckon you will enjoy that I know I certainly did.

Very nice - looks good in white, and rare to find a/c in an S2. Good price too.

Apologies for the confusion, I was talking about the Rangie having working A/C, the 944 doesn't have it fitted.

I believe you are a caraholic. The first step is admitting you have a problem, so well done... wink
