This is a car I built in my garage to have fun with the family in the deserts of california. It's a 62 vw bug with a 100% chromoly tube frame with 24" of suspension travel in front and rear and a 550hp ls1 corvette motor. Ihas a top speed of 135 mph in the dirt and can handle almost anything you throw at it. I had a blast building it and more fun driving it.

Manual or auto?

I presume it's RWD. How did you coax that power out of the LSx?

ETA - That is cool as phuck.

it's a 5 speed manual transaxle made by aus. company albins and it the biggest transaxle in the world with a 11.5 inch ring and pinion and a cost of 18,000 us for transaxle alone. I broke a few before I got this one and I'm happy I did.
The motor was built by turnkey engine supply out of California and I'm good freinds with aswell as help them out thats why I have there name on my car. It is quite easy to get 550 hp out of a ls1 motor with a simple cam change, injectors, clean up the ports and a bit of compression aswell as mapping the computer right makes a very dependable and powerful 550 hp on pump gas. Now they are useing the ls2 thru ls7 series motors and making even more hp if needed. They have a supercherged combo that makes over 700hp that is unreal but I can spin the tires in the dirt at 80 mph and I think thats fast enough to break the car sideways at so I'm happy. I've had it going 130 mph in the desert on dirt and let me tell you thats fast.

heres a video link of my car on one of our desert trips. It also has a blue baja in it that I also built that has a 215 cu. in. v8 rover motor in it that make around 200 hp and works great with a lesser transaxle.
