Hi wavey
I have finally got a car that people may find interesting. I got the car last weekend. I can not wait to drive it properly but i can not afford the insurance until i sell the 306 and i might as well wait until im 19 as it gets cheaper. Its a 1988 westfield sei with a 1600 crossflow in it. The engine has been mildly tuned and sounds great but i surpose anything would after driving rattly french diesels.

I havent really got any big plans for it, just a bit of tidying up and possibly fitting some cycle wings. Any comments, good or bad will be appreciated.

This thing will go like a rocket compared to your 306! Im in the same position as you. I'm waiting also untill i can get cheap insurance on my lomax kit car, although yours is in a completely different league to mine. It's not too bad as I'm at uni most of the time though, but I'm hoping to get insured over summer.

Cool, how much did it cost if you don't mind me asking?

And how much will the insurance be?

Just check the scuttle is attached properly, some only have them pop riveted to the chassis when they should be bolted on.

I paid £1800. It was a friends dads and it had hardly been used in the last two years. Its going to cost around 500 pounds to insure it on a limited mileage policy third party F&T.

WOW! you got a real bargain there. I expected it to be around the £5k area, as this is what they usually go for. Can i ask where you are getting your insurance price from? I have had a quote of £900 for my Lomax and its only 29BHP!

Footman james with my parents as named drivers. I was surprised how low it was. Most of the other companies want around 700 or would keep me on the phone for 30 mins only to tell me that they dont insure under 21s. mad
Your lomax is smokin

Cool car bud, been looking at one for when I'm 19 too smile bargain price to boot!

Have you tried Adrian Flux for insurance? Footman James wanted about £1700 for a 1.6 like yours, Flux were £300 cheaper at £1400 - I know they're more than your quotes but perhaps it's all relative!

Nice one mate, you will love it... fantastic choice for a 19 year old!!

Now, I dont want to sound like an old fart, BUT, I would be very wary of that rollover hoop in a car that seems to have no head restraints. In an RTA, it 'could' be possible to hit your head on the bar, with nightmare consequences...

I would personally want something padded between me and the hoop...

either way, enjoy it and keep it shiny side up!!
