I'll watch out for this next year at Combe. My 328 may finally be up to a reasonable standard by then if I pull my finger out!
Be nice to see another one around!I lost my job last week so at the moment the car is just sat on the drive, MOT just expired. Hopefully will be back in action by then!

We've got a RWYB day at Sata Pod on March 31st if you'd like to come along. Details are on the PPC website. Would be a good post Winter pre-season shake down for the car.
As above, hope it will be back in action by March. The clutch needs doing as it slips and awful lot on hard launches so far from ideal for drag.Besides that, its a pretty under-powered lard-arse so i wouldnt expect it to be quick! maybe 16s 1/4 mile?

PPC in the Park, Malory Park track day in May?
I don't own my car any more it's been credit crunched but I should be there in something.
Sounds like a good one, subject to me being back in work etc.I don't own my car any more it's been credit crunched but I should be there in something.
I had to get my daily 318 e36 hack MOT'd today and it failed horrifically with rust. Quickly whipped this one round to the centre for a test and it passed first time! so, bad news is i've got to drive it on the road until i get a job and a replacement for the 318, darn
I was about to offer my M.I.G, but I had a look at your profile and you're the other side of the country.
I've offen wondered about fitting a 20VT into a Bravo HGT. Fiat did a couple of prototypes but thought it was too much power for a hot hatch. It would make an awesome weapon.
318 based Se7en next?

Unfortunately i dont have the Marea any more, the guy who bought it from me ripped the engine out and scrapped it
it is alot of power and it did shread tires but it was amazing fun, check out some of my YouTube videos if you want to see how she flew around Castle Combe.
Hi,
Lovely car. I'm also thinking of getting a 328 to on the track. I'd like to hear your opnion / advise on:
1. Milage. Most 328's I'm looking at have 120k plus milage. Is this an issue, what milage did your car have on it?
2. Weight. Did you ever work out how much weight you saved by stripping the interior (then adding tha cage)?
Many thanks!

Mileage wasnt a big concern for me really, if the engine needs replacing it should be easy enough to do. Mines on 102k now (bought on 100k) but i'd take V8Mates advise regarding the new/old engine revisions.
I've not yet put it on the scales, i've still not fitted my poly windows which will reduce it a bit and currently its on axel stands, once i get it back on the road i'll get it weighed and post it here.

I know some of you wanted to know and i was also worndering myself so i've now had the car weighed!
Result was 1300kg without driver but a full tank of fuel and spare wheel still in place.
i think thats about what i was expecting (i thought 1250kg with half tank) so i'm on track but need to crack on with getting the poly windows fitted and losing weight from other area's once the weather sorts its self out

Over the last few evenings i've been fitting the poly carb windows i bought a year ago. It turns out they are pretty straight forward to fit and with the original seals in place they really dont need sealer or fixtures to hold them in, they are tight!
heres a quick snap i took after i did the first rear door:
I've started a speadsheet to track the weight loss to see if i can get near my target weight of 1100kg.
so far removing the side glass and windows motors & mechanics has saved 15kilos!
Still need to replace the rear screen but i think that could be upto 5kg saving
Hoping the weather improves so i can really get into tidying bits up and removing the unwanted junk.

Finished fitting all of the poly windows today and removing the window motors.
I took the car out for a spin and the local roads seems to be packed with people out for a good drive, some short sprints against a few BMW's (E36 323, E46 325 & E46 330) have me wondering if the car is down on power as i just couldnt make progress on any of them, given the weight loss i was expecting more.
On return home i carried out a compression test and the results are good, 207psi across all 6 cylinders, the spark plugs look near new & are NKG quad prong items not cheapo counterparts. The only thing that stood out was the plugs didnt seem to have be tightened properly, the crush washers were still intact and on refit it was clear i had to tighten them down. another quick spin as it didnt feel much different.
I've asked a friend if he can take a look at the fueling for me as i've fitted the M50 inlet manifold. I'll be getting that done wednesday evening so will report back.
