Shame you fell ill on holiday, Dan. Always frustrating. I’m in the area with some friends now. We took a 130i and. X3 M40i.

Yeah; really pissed about it TBH

It's a really good week to be away, breaks up the quiet months after Christmas/New Year etc...

It is what it is...

It was weird weather too; very warm which us unusual, it's been colder back home!

Yup. There's grit all over the roads here still, piled up against the kerbs etc... Like you said, we need a few days of decent rain to wash it away...

Think I'll run the winters for a few more weeks unless it really warms up and then fit the new wheels
It’s been really mild here the last few days although it looks like the nights get cold again this week which means even more grit being chucked down. Joy.

Yup; you travel hell of a lot more than we do though pal...

Fortunately we've still got the Racing Jazz, so Ali will keep using that for commuting to work, for now

My new-to-me OEM BMW 18" alloys landed today...

biggrin

Tyres should land Friday & will then take them to my pal who refurbs alloys for a living to get the tyres fitted & wheels balanced

They're OEM BMW 18" Style 405Ms in Satin Black with OEM BMW TPMS - straight set of 18x8s, so fitting 235/45 18" tyres all round

Will update with pictures when they're all together and Gtechniq C5'd and ready to fit wink

Nice car and interesting thread. Quite fancy an xdrive 3 series diesel, probably a 320d.

Cheers smile

What makes you want/feel you need an xDrive?

If you haven't already, test drive one as their more 'wollowy' due to them being on softer suspension

Live in a pretty rural area, down an unmade lane, uphillon way out, single track C Road approaching it. 600 ft above sea level and prone to snow in winter. Thinking a rwd car would not be ideal.

Hah; yeah that'll do a good job there; xDrive on winter tyres should be well suited to that!

We're surrounded by untreated country roads, unloved all year and then a nightmare over winter; but always run winter tyres, so. touch wood; haven't had an issue so far & that includes many trips to the Highlands too

OEM BMW Style 405Ms in 18x8 flavour with Goodyear Assym6 F1 tyres (235/45/18 all round) cleaned, Gtechniq C5 treated and fitted today

Just took the car out for a quick spin to make sure the balancing is as it should be and scrub the tyres in a bit; the car drives smoother, quieter and takes the rougher roads much better than the 18" winter RFTs...

Think they look spot on also biggrin

They look great, Dan. I much prefer them to the two-tone 19” versions.

Agree; F3x OEM sizes are 20" and 18" FYI, 19s are on the 1 & 2 series IIRC and need spacers due to their offsets...

20s would have been too much; prefer some tyre on my alloys laugh

Was worried if they'd be lost on the car; but their design works well and looks much better in the OEM satin finish

Winters back on for now

Temps have dropped a lot here, 2ºC here and icy this morning, hasn't got higher than 6.5ºC all day, supposed to be like this all week too

So peace of mind etc
