Thanks! Rust is because it wasn't repaired properly when it was painted!

Great thread, great car, not sure the wheels really suit it though, Much respect to you though for the amount of time and effort put into it.

Done a few small jobs on the 5 today:

* Fitted un-painted gutter strips (old ones were a bit knackered - had a few cracks and scrubs on them)
* Fitted standard steering wheel with paint removed, and polished boss
* Fitted parcel shelf / associated plastics
* Fitted Renault badge
* Fitted new number plates (old ones were knackered)
* Gave it a good clean

Pics:

Got my standard spoiler waiting to go on too, but I need to do a few other things before I fit it

The DS has sat there for years and will eventually get some attention when my Dad gets round to it, and the CX will be for sale at some point

Just read the whole thread, can't work out how I missed it before though! Cracking read and the amount of work you've put in really shows. Personally I love the car and think the wheels and the colour are superb! I was chuffed to see the buckets come out and those leather ones put back in too!!

Off to the classifieds now to look at 5GTTs hehe

Nothing particularly amazing - just sorted an issue with the 5 today... Fuel pump relay wasn't connected properly! Went for a short drive and my friend took some photo's for me

Love how this car stays true to standard with enough personal flare to make it super interesting.

laugh I did have this up for sale on the owners club, but think I've gone off the idea a bit. My enthusiasm comes and goes

New alloys fitted... Think they break it up a bit more. It's a very modern colour, and the wheels were a bit too modern and in your face I think, so going to try and tone it down a bit.

Next jobs are:

Fit front grille badge
Fit spoiler
Fit rear badges

I'd also like a new drivers side door (current one doesn't fit very well.. a new door was used when the car was painted, but it doesn't seem to fit very well.. maybe a patent part?) but that would mean painting it, and there are a few other bits I'd like to get painted, so think I'll wait and save a bit of cash and get it all done together

First off, hats off to ya for all the hard work and giving a modern classic a new lease of life! thumbup I've a soft spot for R5s as I learnt to drive in one, although not a GTT sadly! hehe

Love the OEM+ look on it, I always think that's the way to go, and the previous wheels looked fantastic on it - I am a bit partial to the look that dished and polished wheels give a car! IMHO the new wheels don't look that good on it, being obviously from another Renault.

Oh yeah, deffo a good move getting rid of the cream seats!

Looks great, much prefer it on the new wheels, more subtle.

Starting to miss my old R5 GTT's again.
