I'm thinking about a wheel refurb. Getting all tangled up thinking about colour options. I started thinking grey but now flirting back to a burgundy redish colour to match the seats. Or maybe something sinple like gold. I think grey is the safe option. But how can a 1998 Porsche ever be a safe option?

Silver is timeless. Do another colour if you're prepared to change them again in future IMO biggrin

I like that! Same shade of grey I had my Sportec wheels for my old S4 done.

How do we feel about black?

You can be honest as they need a refurb anyway. But thought I may as well try them on the car and see how it looks.

Not a fan of black wheels on a 996 TBH - period looks wrong for it. I think they look best on silver!

I hate black wheels in general, but especially on a 996. As has been said, not period correct.

In the amount of time you've been agonising over the wheel colour you could have had them painted and stripped three times!

Don't go for black, though. Maybe gunmetal, or dark gold for a bit of a street fighter look.

Gentlemen

I have made a decision

Well sort of

I am going for Aurum Gold

It's a fairly modern colour so most of the google images show it on massive wheels on modern pork. The only pic I managed to find of a 996 era car is shown below but I would say it does not work too well on a yellow car. So lets see how they turn out.

I do now have another problem with centre caps as my powder coating wheel guy suggested I get the centre caps painted elsewhere. He is going to order 1 litre of paint and then give me the left overs. It is more expensive than average paint which does not surprise me. Surely it would be simple enough to get some little plastic centre caps made up in this colour. I have been listening to the back lash from everyone here about not having centre caps on my wheels and it really upsets some people.
