Thanks for that, Jeremy. Being able to spell ‘independent’ is a good start, too!

I called AJS, but alas, they don’t specialise in L322 models and petrol V8 at that.

However, he did recommend Millennium with whom I’m booked in on Thursday morning.

Upon calling LR Wimbledon, for clarification, I received slightly better news that I had previously interpreted.

The gasket on the nearside is leaking.

There is a chance that the manifold is cracked, but not visually confirmed.

There are no studs cracked or damaged, however, there is a risk that they may crack due to heat exposure and age, which is why they won’t take it on.

If you have to scrap the head you can give it to Ross to put in his boot and help straighten up his headlights.

He features prominently on Autoalex cars. I wonder whether he'd do it, and how much he charges!

I doubt he'd be cheap! Yes, I'm sure he could do it though. It's whether he'll want the risk of it going iffy and occupying a space for some time.

Thank you. I called them and they'd defo look at it but from 7th March. He charges £105/hour.

Keith Gott are also willing to look at it, but with the same caveats i.e. it could be a slippery slope and in a worst case, £3-£4k costs.

As it stands, I'll take it to Millennium, who are local and willing to look at it, at the first instance. I'll gather a quotation and consider my options from there.

Perhaps I shall do, depending on progress.

Your post prompted me to amble over to these guys, who wish to see the car tomorrow morning.
