I’m happy to report more work has been done and enthusiasm for the project is at a 6 year high lol , the vast majority of the boot area is complete along with parcel shelf and rear bulkhead top with 4 blinds fitted and working for the 3 most rearward windows, all the boot electrics are done and working again . The rear seats have been refitted - the eagle eyed amongst you may notice these are different to the earlier rear seats I fitted , and are much more comfortable . Some more work has been done on wiring around this area and now both rear electric windows are working . Today’s major job has been to get the handbrake working , the Lexus had a foot operated hand brake pedal with hand release mechanism on obviously the left hand side of the drivers side footwell area , after much trial and deliberation it now has a standard hand operated lever to the left hand side of the drivers seat mounted on the floor , I put off doing the handbrake years ago because I thought it would be difficult and today found out why !! But anyway it’s mostly done now , I need to sort out the gear selector tomorrow which I have a few ideas for .

Is the interior going to be refitted, or are you leaving it bare?

That is basically what I’m doing at the moment , I knew a lot of the Lexus interior wouldn’t fit back , although with the benefit of hindsight I should have kept more of the carpet/flooring/padding/sound deadening as it’s making my job a little harder not having it but such is life , I did keep a lot more of the Espace interior which is being refitted where it can , and I’m having to make the rest up as I go along .
I never really wanted ultimate luxury but neither do I fancy the stripped bare racecar style either

Just spent the last few hours catching up on this entire thread, having not read any of it since around 2014.... Crack on OP! How I wish I had the skills, tools and space for a project of this scale.

As for the Ginetta stuff, I suspected you might work somewhere like that. Were you at the Ginetta PH Sunday Service a few years back?

It looks tantalising close to being done, what a superb project. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE keep the updates coming, it is therapy for us all. Also that trip to LM will be a truly memorable event in such a cool vehicle.

At the risk of getting in trouble for bumping the thread, I'm going to say this is incredible, amazing work and the Espace has actually grown on me. First time I've seen the thread so read it all the way through over the past week.

To anybody who thinks this has taken a while I started my project back in 1990, and it's still not finished, currently a Mini with a 2ltr Lancia Twin Cam in the rear, but I have a a Fiat 16v turbo lump to go in one day............

So a little update , I have spent most of the week working on it - finalising some parts , reverting back to previous unfinished parts , starting on new parts , and it is all going well but immensely time consuming for what I consider very little visual progress , however after standing back and having a look this afternoon- I can see progress and that’s the main thing .
I’ll post pics of the interior where all the work has been done , rear electric windows now working and also cup holders installed lol
